(SR4) QX100 to be priced at around $450 (lot cheaper than the RX100MII)

I have just been told by one source that the QX100 lenscamera featuring the same RX100MII sensor and lens will be priced at around $450. That is $300 less than the price of the RX100MII camera ($748 here at Amazon).

And there is also a Tawian site (ePrice) sharing the price in NT currency:
QX100 = NT$14,900 = 370 EUR
QX10 = NT$6,900 = 170 EUR

At $450 this lens may be a good solution if you want the RX100MII quality for less!

Next announcement on September 4 (QX lenscameras and Honami Z1 smartphone)

Next week (September 4) Sony will announce another bunch of new products. The Honami Smartphone with High Quality G lens and sensor. And the famous QX lenscamera series. A source had the chance to test the QX lenses on an iPad and writes:

both camera’s (QX10 and QX100) will connect to the smartphones via NFC and/or Wi-Fi for iOS devices. It works on all smartphones and every setting can be adjusted via the app with the Playmemories Mobile 3.0 app which I have tested as a beta.

I hope sources can soon tell me the price of these QX lenscameras. Thanks!

And one very big announcement could be made in late September for the NEX-FF (and maybe some A-mount news is coming too). More about that soon on SAR!

The first and only website showing image samples with the new A3000 and Zeiss lens is Gustav from Dyxum (Click here). Gustav writes:

conlusion for me , A3000 is a very nice camera for his price (350 euro)
ofcourse it has also his negatives , but for this price you get a very nice camera with a very very good sensor , and for me personal is that the most important.
ZEIS 16-70 F4 OSS , not to big , not to small very good build , perfect combination at the A3000 and all NEX-camera`s , very good with the lens wide open (F4) , only negative is the price (1000 euro)but it is a “must have lens”

Some of you may wished the lens to be a stop faster. But these would have come to a high cost (more weight and greater size). I prefer the compact size (it’s only a tiny bit bigger than the 24mm Zeiss) and I bet it will become the main kit lens for many NEX owners. And one more thing: Stay tuned on SAR, because more great Zeiss lens are coming soon :)

Suprise! New firmware update for the A99, NEX-7, NEX-6 and NEX-5R

Sony Japan (Google translation here) issued a new firmware update for the A99, NEX-7, NEX-6 and NEX-5R. Sony Australia posted the full info in english:

A99 Update Details (Sony AUS):

  1. Provides support for the Dual AF function compliant lens: SAL50F14Z
  2. Addition of HDMI simultaneous output mode
    In addition to the existing HDMI simultaneous output during movie recording, the camera will be able to display smooth smooth 60fps(NTSC)/50fps(PAL) video on an external monitor connected via HDMI and on the LCD screen of the camera simultaneously also during movie recording standby.
    Note: The camera needs to be in Movie mode with [HDMI Info. Display] set to [Off].

NEX-7 Update Details (Sony AUS):

  • Addition of AF drive system for movies
    AF drive system for movie was added in order to enhance the scalability of future E-mount systems. This feature ensures a higher degree of flexibility in the design of future E-mount lenses. We will be able to provide lenses that can even better satisfy our customers.

NEX-6 and 5R Update Details (Sony AUS):

  • Provides support for the Fast Hybrid AF function compliant lenses:
    SEL20F28 and SEL1670Z.
  • Addition of AF drive system for movies
