(SR5) A new Sony products announcement is imminent!

Share

Good Morning and welcome to the new week :)

Guys, the tension is beginning to grow! According to top sources Sony is about to make a new product announcement within the coming weeks. I am pretty sure there will be a new NEX-C3 successor and I have been told that the NEX-C3 will get massive price drops this week (Check at [shopcountry 7207]). And than there is the new A37. I have no exact announcement date yet but I will know it soon ;)

I am still not 100% sure but there is a fair chance Sony will show “something Full Frame” too. My guess for now is that they will display a new FF SLT prototype like they did with the A77 months before the real announcement.

If you have some info to share drop me an anonymous message by using the contact form on the right sidebar. You can avoid to send me your real name and email address and no IP data gets stored. Would be nice if you use some kind of fake name I can track to see if you are (or will become) a trusted source or not. Thanks!

Sony NEX-7 and 50mm lens reviews!

Share

[shoplink 8448][/shoplink]

Short review at DigitalJournalOfPhotography (Click here): “The NEX-7 is capable of delivering hugely detailed files unmatched by rivals using an APS-C sensor, though the standard kit lens isn’t a particularly strong performer. Sony desperately needs to widen the E-series range adding more high-quality primes such as the superb Sony Zeiss 24mm f/1.8 Sonnar T*.

Shooting with the NEX-7 and SLR Magic 50 T0.95 Hyperprime and other ramblings…by Steve Huff (Click here).

Photoheadonline (Click here) tested the 50mm f/1.8 lens: “Shooting only a Close Up test on a lens usually doesn’t warrant a decision on whether a lens is worth buying or not, but in this case I feel very comfortable recommending this lens.

The 50mm f/1.8 lens is still hard to find in USA stores. But easier to find in Europe and Asia. Click these search links to find the lens at [shopcountry 8448].
The NEX-7 search links are here: [shopcountry 8450]. It reamins a hotseller in many countries: Amazon US (place 1), Amazon Germany (place 2), Amazon France (place 2) and “desaparecido” at Amazon UK (place ???).

Full A77 review at TheVerge! And A77 showcase video.

Share

Finally reviewers decided to test a new A77 review :)
The merit goes to TheVerge (Click here) who writes: “Ever since I got my hands on Sony’s NEX-7, I’ve had high expectations for the company’s digital cameras. For the most part, the A77 lives up to them..The A77 is an excellent camera that will serve most people very well, but it’s hard to recommend it over the Nikon D7000, the Canon EOS 60D, or even Sony’s own NEX-7, which takes equally fantastic pictures and videos in a body far smaller and at a price far lower.

Jochem De Vet (Click here) posted the video you see here o top of this post. Actually he had a quite nice idea! Read that: “As a former Canon user I have made the switch to the Sony A77. Soon I began noticing that there was little talk on the web about the Sony Alpha A77’s video/film capabilities. The A77 is not embraced by the videographing community. My idea is that it should be, because it is one the most powerful hdslr’s on the market. To showcase the power and beauty of the A77 I’ve selected a few clips from talented filmmakers on Vimeo who had the guts to switch and try something new.

Nice video!!!

And here are the links to the A77. I know fixed many of them as I noticed that some search links (like from Pixmania) where broken. Sorry! Now it should work:

New Sigma lens reviews roundup!

Share

Here are a couple of links to the Sigma 30mm and 19mm lens reviews:

SLRlensreview (Click here) tested the 30mm lens on the Sony NEX camera: “Sigma’s entry level prime indeed bests Sony’s lens in resolution department. Everything else seems to be very comparable. So the recommendation is to choose Sony’s E 30/3.5 if you’re into macro photography, while for everything else just go with Sigma’s 30/2.8 EX DN.

30mm first look at Photographybay (Click here): “So far, the Sigma 30mm f/2.8 EX DN looks like a real winner for Sony NEX cameras as a fast walkaround lens.

Another 19mm lens test on the NEX-5n can be seen within a forum post at Fred Miranda (Click here): “I think this little lens holds it own, with a muted contrast/high detail rending all it’s own, excellent ergonomics, and a ridiculously low price.

Also Photographybolly (Click here) is testing the 19mm lens: “In conclusion, for $200 this lens is great value for a very good lens. If you already have the 16mm you might decide to give this lens a miss. If you don’t, having used both, I would recommend the 19mm over the 16mm.

The 30mm lens is in Stock at Amazon US (Click here), Amazon DE (Click here), Amazon FR (Click here).

(SR3) Sony official Full Frame prototype to be shown soon?

Share

Rumors are growing and growing and the latest I heard from a source is that Sony plans unveil something “Full Frame” within the next few weeks!!! Don’t get too excited guys, it’s realistic to think they may show a prototype only. As I told you Sony has two different FF cameras in the works. But I guess only one of them will be shown (if the rumor is correct).

But, I have some kind of good feeling that Sony may will accelerate the Full Frame plans after the Canon 5DmarkIII and Nikon D800 announcements. I know there is people within Sony pushing the Japanese managers to release the first SLT camera sooner than Photokina. But please remain with your feet on earth for now! All we can hope is to see a prototype only…ok?

FF rumor history:
A year ago I reported that Sony’s plan was to release a new FF camera in late Spring 2012. The Thai flood delayed the A77 release and Sony decided to postpone the FF camera release because they need time to evaluate the A77 flaws and user suggestions. The latest news was that a new FF SLT camera will be announced in September. Very likely using a new 24 Megapixel sensor. But there are also rumors about a second 36 Megapixel rumor and a FF square sensor. Sony may now be ready to show us some FF prototype or roadmap within the next weeks. Or is there some room for an ulterior surprise?

P.S.: The Sony powered Nikon D800 keeps remaining the most sold camera at Amazon US (Click here). Time to offer something that can compete against it!
