New competition: Panasonic will announce a sort of Sony ZV-E1 clone made for “content creators”

Share

On May 23 Panasonic will announce a direct competitor of the Sony ZV-E1. Those are the known features of this camera:

  • Camera made for “content creators”
  • It has newly developed and “unqiue” features for content creators. Something never seen before!
  • Uses the same S5II 24MP sensor.
  • Very compact, barely taller than the L-mount itself. Smaller than the Fujifilm X100VI (without lens)
  • No EVF
  • around $200 $300 less than the Lumix S5II
  • different color variations

I am curious to learn more about those “unique” features.

OWC 4.0 CFexpress Type A card now in Stock at BHphoto and Amazon

Share

Two days ago I reported that finally the very first new 4.0 generation CFexpress Type A cards are in Stock at Amazon US. They are now in Stock at OWC, BHphoto, Adorama too. Those are the options:

UDPATE: Both cards come with Type B adapter included. This will allow you to use the OWC Atlas USB4 CFexpress 4.0 Type B Card Reader (get it here on Amazon).

Why buy such cards?

No Sony camera yet has the hardware to support these Generation 4.0 cards. But there are three good reasons why to buy them anyway:

  1. Those cards are backwards compatible and will work just fine on any Alpha camera on their max speed possible (900MB/s)
  2. When you download the file to your computer it will be running at max speed of 1620MB/s Write via the new 4.0 card readers
  3. I suspect that future cameras like the Sony A1II and Sony A7V will support those cards. So if you buy those cards now you are future proof if you switch to a future new Sony camera!

New Sony rebates run this til June 2 at Amazon, BHphoto, Adorama.

Confirmed via sources: New Sigma is indeed a tiny bit smaller than the predecessor

Share

A couple of days ago I leaked the image of the 24-70mm f/2.8 DG DN II lens that will be announced on May 16. Some people argued that the new lens looks bigger than the current version. I asked again my sources and they still do confirm the new lens is just a tiny bit smaller than the older lens.

Not that this really is going to keep us up at night…but wanted to let you know that this is the answer I got :)
