Real or Hoax? This DJI Mirrorless Camera Teaser and Sony FX3 competitor

Share

The Sony FX3 Is About to Face Serious Competition with two major announcements coming up:

  • Canon C50 – 32MP Full-Frame Cine Camera on September 9
  • Nikon Zr – 24MP Full-Frame Cine Camera on September 10

But what I didn’t expect… is DJI entering the battlefield! Until now, I honestly believed the rumors about a DJI full-frame mirrorless camera were nothing more than wild speculation. But today, two new hints surfaced — and they’re hard to ignore:

1. The Leaked Teaser

A well-known DJI influencer briefly shared a teaser for an upcoming DJI event on September 15. One of my readers managed to grab a quick (and rough) screenshot before it disappeared. There’s not much to see, but the teaser’s vibe clearly hints at interchangeable lenses — and you can even spot the silhouette of what looks like a boxy FX3-style cine camera.

2. The YouTube Tester Clue

A German YouTuber recently posted a hands-on video with a new cine camera — but here’s the twist: He says it’s not from Canon, and the camera body is blurred out. What isn’t hidden, though, is the Viltrox PL-to-L mount adapter he’s using — which all but confirms this is an unreleased, super compact L-mount cine camera. Sure, this could still be a new Panasonic…But what if it’s DJI?

So while I’m still a bit skeptical… I have to admit, I’m starting to take this a lot more seriously. If true, this could be great news for the entire camera industry — because DJI entering the game would absolutely shake things up and push the traditional Japanese giants to step up their innovation.

Here are the rumored DJI mirrorless camera specs:

  • Full Frame L-mount cine camera
  • Cine focused
  • Integrated viewfinder just like this Sony model (but less pronounced)
  • Hasselblad X2DII Color science and ICON menu
  • Announcement on September 15, 8am EST time

The Korean company Novachips announced new 4th generation affordable CFexpress Type A cards you can get now on Amazon US&CA, Amazon DE, Amazon UK and other worldwide Amazon stores. The card sells for less than V90 SD cards but with faster sustained 800 MB/s speed.

Novachips sent me a card for testing and I got those results:

The actual speed consistently exceeds 1000 MB/s, and during my 4K video shoots, I never experienced any sudden interruptions or buffering slowdowns when capturing photos.

Novachips Launches CFexpress Type A 400GB — More Affordable Than SD Cards
Seongnam, South Korea — September 1, 2025 — Novachips, a global leader in advanced flash storage solutions, announces the release of its newest CFexpress Type A card: the 400GB model, a performance-driven solution that delivers more than just speed — all at a price point lower than many V60–V90 class SD cards.

With this launch, Novachips is reshaping what’s possible for creators who demand pro-level performance without the premium markup. The 400GB Type A card is officially VPG 400 certified, ensuring it meets rigorous standards for high-bitrate video recording, including extended 4K and 6K ProRes workflows. Like its larger siblings, it maintains identical reliability, data integrity, and thermal stability, making it a dependable choice across the entire Novachips Type A lineup.

Designed with custom-engineered hardware and fine-tuned firmware, the 400GB card delivers consistent sustained write speeds and exceptional thermal control — even during long-format video shoots or continuous burst photography. It also benefits from advanced over-provisioning, a technology typically reserved for high-end enterprise SSDs, which boosts endurance, improves performance stability, and ensures data integrity over time. This makes the card particularly suited for professional cinema and content production workflows where reliability is non-negotiable.

“This card is the game changer,” said SJ Yoo, Product Manager at Novachips. “For the first time, creators can get true CFexpress performance at a lower price than many SD cards — without sacrificing stability or thermal reliability.”

To celebrate the launch, Novachips will run a special promotion in collaboration with the Professional Photographers of America (PPA). The product will be featured in PPA’s September 2025 magazine issue, reaching thousands of working photographers across the United States with exclusive early access offers and educational content.

Availability & Pricing
The Novachips CFexpress Type A 400GB card will be available globally through authorized distributors and resellers starting September 1, 2025. It will launch at a recommended retail price of $140 USD, making it the most cost-effective VPG 400–certified CFexpress Type A card on the market.

UPDATED with correction: Canon and Nikon Just Declared WAR on the Sony FX3!

Share

A rock-solid source just confirmed: Canon will unveil the new C50 Full-Frame Cine Camera on September 9, followed by the Nikon Zr announcement on September 10. And make no mistake — both are gunning straight for the Sony FX3.

UDPDATE with corrected specs: The Canon C50  is blowing the FX3 out of the water — with 32MP (not 45MP as previously reported), Open Gate, killer autofocus, and beautiful RAW output.

Meanwhile, the Nikon Zr reportedly integrates the RED tech with Nikon Z6III 24MP partially sensor under the hood — promising next-level performance that could make the FX3 look instantly outdated.

In short: Sony better move fast with the FX3 II, because Canon and Nikon are bringing serious heat.
