Sony’s new Dual layer sensor has phase detection pixels on the full area.
Sony patented a new sensor having two layers. It has one classic RGB pixel layer on top and one phase detection pixel layer below. This means that the phase detection works on every single R or G or B pixel and covers the full sensor area. Quite amazing! Let’s hope this one will be implemented on a real camera n the near future.
