There isn’t that much difference in the video compared to the older one is it?
Just that the shape is a little bit clearer at the end.
At least the size seems to be comparable to the earlier mock ups.
@Leo: Looks like it.
Those are some very usefull features from a lot of their high-end compact cameras. Well, except for the metal mount of course.
What is the main convenience of a metal mount? Durability?
metal mount wont loosen up after a period of time, plastic will loosen from wear and tear, even u never change any lenses, the normal usage does put a toll on the mount.
i hope it will still maintain quality at least as good as the A55, if the image quality is like A2/3, then its such a waste…
Alfons – it’s what people call “arts” and testers call “shit”
ieR – still the loosen happens, if ever, after few years, by the time you’ll have a new DSLR – just because of the progress made.
Metal mount count in film cameras which are made to survive dozens of years, in DSLRs it’s far at the end of priorities.
HDR, sweep panorama and 1080 are nice features for a Compact camera
At this point the only thing that would turn me off from buying this camera if it didn’t have built in stabilization
Yeah, it’s a near-sell for me, just have to see if it has in-body stabilization or not. Also, here’s hoping it has a different mount that’s compatible with A-mount lenses via adapter, as I think using the same standard A-mount on a mirrorless camera won’t help much in the way of making lenses more compact, which is really the point of this whole mirrorless thing.
I’m currently invested in m4/3, but I’m system-agnostic, so I’m hoping Sony comes out with a good system.
According to the screenshot this camera shoots with 17 Mbit/s FH mode. Why not using 24 Mbit/s the full possible bandwith for AVCHD? looks like a dealbreaker for filmmakers…
So as per the silhouette you still don’t see a dial on the camera unless this is hidden from view sort of like the olympus camera. The other thing is…where is the hot shoe?….i cant imagine that it wont have one for possible EVF or flash etc….
Anyone know anything further regarding these two issues…are we to believe that all selection will be done with buttons on the backside of the camera…there is no signs that this a touch screen…so they must have figured out a great way to streamline the function because I dont see how they can do it without a dial
As you can see in the earlier menu screenshots it is going to be a touchscreen. There is no dial because you can change mode by moving your thumb over the right side of the screen.

The English version of the video currently viewable on the sony site, has extra footage than the video above has. Some of it is slow motion. If this was “true-in camera” slow motion then that would be an incredible feat for a camera so small!
