Sony announces the 18-252mm mega zoom…but for PL-mount.

You can see the first images of the 18-252mm Super35mm lens at Dslrnewsshooter.com (via Noisycamera). It uses the PL mount and not the Alpha mount! That because it has been developed for the new Sony F3 and Sony F65. It starts with a f/3.8 aperture. Price is to be determined and availability is said to be winter 2011.
We have to wait a little while before to see new Alpha and E-mount lenses…

The lens is for an F3, that much is true. It is “FZ” mount, which is the native lens mount on the F3 beneath the PL mount adapter the camera ships with.
The lens will ONLY fit on the new F3. Not the announced F65, that camera will be PL mount only.
Also, to the last poster, most PL lenses only cover a motion picture 35mm frame, which is more or less super35 sized. Or APS-C sized. Full frame DSLR is quite a bit bigger and 90% of PL mount lenses will not cover that big of a frame.
