4 months ago |I really look forward to the WPO awards every year – there’s some wonderful photography to be seen there!
One of the things I really enjoy is low-light shooting, and one of my favourite cameras for that is the NEX 6 or 7.
I thought SAR readers may be interested to see a low-light image I took with the NEX-7.
I was very flattered and honoured to receive a Commended Award (top 50) in the WPO Open Low Light category for it, and I think it just goes to show that you don’t necessarily need a full frame camera to get great low-light result.
My WPO submission can be seen on my Flickr page here:

And I wrote a short post about low-light shooting, and some of the ‘pros’ of using a small camera like the NEX-7 here:

I can’t help but wonder reading posts from most of the more prolific writers to this site, myself included, how many them (us) are really interested in the art of photography and not just the technology and electronic gimmickry that often makes the process of capturing the image easier and maybe more fun, but does little in the hands of a “experienced” photographer to make a better image.
But this is a rumor site, isn’t it!
Your work shows that you are a photographer, someone that is interested in the creation of images that tells stories through photos and creates art that has the ability to draw a viewer’s eye and not just another poseur who posts.
Thanks!!!

4 months ago |Much of my photography is of theatre productions. It is all low light. At my past shoots I was very comfortable with using an a77 due the evf and Zeiss lenses. Recently I jumped into the world of mirrorless cameras with an Nex 6, Nex 7 and an EM-5. I just finished a three night shoot of a local high school’s production of Anne of Green Gables. Everyone was very happy with the shots and I am comfortable with going small now. It was so fun too.
