A new teaser from Zeiss shows the first images of the new Zeiss E-mount Full Frame Otus lenses!

Zeiss just published the first teaser video where you can see bits of a new lens that will be announced on February 25. What we learn from this teaser:

  1. It’s E-mount
It clearly shows a lens mounted on a Sony camera (I think it’s this camera). So now we know for sure it’s going to be
  2. Aperture at least f/1.7 (more likely f/1.4?)
In one of the screenshots, I increased the light intensity to recognize the f/1.7 aperture mark. So it will definitely be f/1.7… but maybe even faster as you can’t see the full aperture range in the video.
  3. It’s OTUS
It has exactly the same yellow markings as the original OTUS DSLR lens series. So I assume it is a newly developed OTUS series, perhaps with manual focus like the original series. This series aims to achieve the highest possible image quality. The price of the DSLR series was over $4,000.
  4. Relatively Compact
Unlike the DLSR series the lens looks decently compact.

It is also clear to me from the video that these are manual focus lenses. Here are some pictures of the few interesting parts in the video. Let me know if you can spot anything else interesting!

  • In terms of sales volume share by manufacturer in January 2013, Sony topped the list for the third consecutive month with 29.7%. In second place was Canon with a 26.3% share. These two companies account for the majority of the market. In third place was Fujifilm, whose share increased 4.6 points from the previous month to 15.9%, overtaking Nikon. This is the first time that Fujifilm has made it into the top three in five months.
  • In the ranking of sales by series in January 2013, Canon’s “EOS R50” took the top spot. It overtook Sony’s “VLOGCAM ZV-E10 II” and regained the top spot for the first time in two months.
  • Coming in third is Fujifilm’s “FUJIFILM X-M5.” Since its release at the end of November 2012, the model has been climbing the ranks every month, making it into the top three for the first time in three months. It accounts for roughly half of the company’s total sales, making a major contribution to the company’s growing market share.
