Daniel:I’m a photographer and videographer that has been using the Sony A7 mirrorless lineup for a while now. Just noticed this sequence being shot for the movie “First Man” with Ryan Gosling. Is it just me, or are they shooting this handheld with a Sony mirrorless?  The scene starts at 2:20

MIRRORLESS WARS II: Canon vs Nikon, Sony, Fuji, Panasonic!

Tony and Chelsea write:

The first round of the mirrorless wars are over – Canon released the EOS R, Nikon released the Z7 (and announced the Z6), Panasonic announced the S1 and S1R, and Fuji launched the X-T3. We were there at the events as the camera companies battled to win back the full-frame market from Sony. We think some of the camera companies did a great job, while others made some serious mistakes.

Now available for preorder: Laowa 10-18mm FE lens

You can now preorder the new Laowa 10-18mm FE lens at VenusOptics (Click here). The first 50 preorder will get a 100mm Magnetic Filter Holder for Free! See image below:

Here is the Press text:

Laowa 10-18mm f/4.5-5.6 FE Zoom
This is the widest zoom lens available for Sony full frame FE-mount cameras available right now. Designed primarily for travel and reportage photography, Laowa have produced the smallest lens in its class at just 910mm in length and 70mm in diameter and weighing a meagre 496 grams makes this lens very convenient to carry just about anywhere.

With no electronic connections. It can also be used on Sony’s smaller APS-C sized sensors cameras, still giving a wide focal length of 15-27mm equivalent.

As well as being a very capable performer, the lens has a straight 5 bladed aperture, carefully chosen to offer a pleasant 10-points sunstars rendering, making it an excellent tool for nightscape photography. Short focusing distance as close as 15cm (which is about the closest in its class) for some mini- macro shooting possibilities. The all metal barrel of the lens houses 14 elements in 10 groups with one extra-low dispersion element and two aspherical elements to deliver exceptional optical quality and performance. The angle of view is 102-130 degrees with internal manual focus which means the front element does not rotate. A rear filter slot is included to fit 37mm filters or an optional filter holder is available for 100mm wide filters (such as Gradient /ND Grads, or other 100mm filters). For Cinematic uses the aperture ring can be switched to de-clicked silent control of the aperture’s, the minimum aperture is F:22.
With a high quality chromium FE mount to ensure a solid coupling between the camera body and the lens.

Whats In The Box
Laowa 10-18mm f/4.5-5.6 Zoom Lens, Front and rear lens caps.
