Morphoo:http://m.fengniao.com/document/5344337.html just want to share with you a rather in-depth camera test on the A9. Looks like a Sony Chinese media day of the A9, photographers got to try them out as well as compare with D5, 1DX ii and A9.
In the middle of the article it showed they did a sound capture of the three cameras during burst shooting, which I found quite interesting.
Hope you enjoy the article, despite being in Chinese.

A9 overheating is NOT a general issue: seems to affect few faulty units only.

Our reader Donald J. Trump said selecting “covfefe” should fix the overheating issue. Thanks president!

I am making some small progress in understanding the few A9 overheating reports we saw on youtube and on forums:

1) Plenty of people reported on our A9 group and on forums that they had no issues whatsoever when shooting in hot conditions and under direct sunlight.
2) Jim Kasson tested the A9 overheating and his conclusion is:”This amount of self heating doesn’t look like anything out of the ordinary to me

3) I heard it through the grapevine and also via ThatCameraGuy (new video here) that it seems the overheating is happening on a small batch of A9 cameras. Sony is investigating this.

If indeed the problem is happening on a smaller percentage of the A9 cameras Sony will surely replace those cameras for free. Sony will soon make a statement and I hope this will be the end of the story!

Nikkei report: Sony holds 50% of the global sensor market share

Nikkei reports:

Output of image sensors is expected to reach 100,000 a month at the end of March 2018, with the volume rising another 10-20% by 2020.

Sony holds the leading global market share of nearly 50% in value terms for image sensors, Techno Systems Research says. But competition from No. 2 Samsung Electronics and others is growing.

Mirrorlessrumors also summed up the camera shipment data:

System camera shipments are going up compared to 2016. And what’s even better news is that while DSLR shipments are dropping (-11%) the mirrorless system shipments went up compared to 2016.

Evan:I just did a shoot in NYC for a magazine, featuring my Sony a7RII and my new Profoto B1s while tethered to my Surface Pro 4 on my new Tethertools Aero (I love new gear!!). I give narration during the entire video explaining the settings and methodology for each shot. Enjoy! https://youtu.be/v-OQpJMNs34. The video was shot in 4K on the Sony a7SII

Nikon announces a lens I want Sony to make too :)

The next FE lenses Sony will announce will be a 135mm (probably f/1.8), a new 400mm (probably f/2.8) and there is also a third lens coming by end 2017.

But if Sony needs advice on what they should put ont heir roadmap please listen to me and make a FE version of the just announced new Nikon 28mm f/1.4. I do prefer that focal length over the 35mm lens.

Who is on board with me?

If Sony would make a 28mm f/1.4 FE lens

Sigma statement: Working on a MC-11 firmware fix to make AF-S work properly on the A9

Sigma Japan issued an official statement:

For customers using SONY α9 (ILCE-9) camera

Thank you for purchasing and using our products.
We have found that the combination of SIGMA MOUNT CONVERTER MC-11 (SA-E and EF-E) and some of SIGMA’s interchangeable zoom lenses may not focus precisely, if it is attached to SONY a9 (ILCE-9), released by SONY in May in 2017.
When using AF-S mode and shooting in telephoto range, it could occasionally display the shot is in focus, although it may not be spotted properly on the subject.
We are afraid of this inconvenience caused to the customers who use these products.
We are now investigating the phenomenon and will make a further announcement on the website shortly.
We appreciate your continued support for our company.

For further information, please contact your nearest authorized SIGMA subsidiary / distributor.
