Newly published Sony patents explains how Sony wants to get rid of the Rolling Shutter issue.

The complex sensor design you see on top is part of a newly published Sony patent (http://www.google.com/patents/US20140160334). Sony plans to fix the rolling shutter problem by introducing a new sensor technology which can read entire lines of pixels in batches of 4 simultaneously.
There are also more benefits coming along this tech: Noise is reduced and dynamic range increased.

Here a video from  the rolling shutter problem on the A7s:

P.S.: Thanks Cherryl for finding and sharing the patent!

Ashley:If you were looking for some content to post on your page, there are a couple Sony a7 specific tutorial videos we posted a short time ago. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=zX2G5TxyHfo. This one will compare the process and end result of the in camera panoramic mode to a hand stitched panoramic.  It also shows who simple the process is for the Sony a7 versus going through Photoshop and putting the panoramic together.
This video will show how to setup the time lapse application available on the NEX cameras, as well as showing some time lapse examples made from the a7 and the application: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=jgMhc-ROdqQ

Brandon:Thought I’d share a quick timelapse video I took of the Independence Day fireworks show in Washington, DC on July 4, 2014. All pictures and timelapse were taken with the Sony A7 + Zeiss FE 35mm lens. Photo’s were post-processed in Adobe Lightroom, but hte timelapse was 100% compiled using the Sony Timelapse in-camera application as a video. I wanted to see what the camera could do for hobbyists like myself with minimum time and effort. Video: http://youtu.be/ZZgkhZZBs4w

Poll: On sensor IBIS is possible on Sony E-mount cameras. Do you want it?

You may remember that a couple of months ago Sony Europe made a mess and said E-mount cameras have an on sensor stabilization (See Image on top). Well, the image is now gone but I got an interesting note form a highly trusted source: He told me that on sensor stabilization is technically possible on E-mount cameras! But the reason why Sony didn’t add this feature yet is simple: Sony isn’t yet sure if such a feature is a key factor for mirrorless camera buyers.

I figured a little POLL on SAR may help them to decide :) Imagine Sony using Olympus E-M1 stabilization system (likely the worlds best stabilization for photocameras yet).

Would you buy this new Sigma 300mm f/2.8 lens?
