In March Zonlai announced a new 22mm f/1.8 APS-C E-mount lens. You can buy it on Amazon US in Black or Silver finish. It’s also available in Europe through Amazon DE and Amazon UK.

There is and will always be some pro Sony fanboy reviewers and some anti Sony testers. But the German Stiftung Warentest is certainly known to be a neutral review platform. From Wikipedia:

Stiftung Warentest is a German consumer organisation and foundation involved in investigating and comparing goods and services in an unbiased way.

So what are their unbiased testing results about the current best FF cameras? Florian translated their findings posted on N–tv.de:

Stiftung Warentest has crowned 3 Sony cameras as best full frame cameras on the market. It’s the leading independent testing service in Germany and is highly recognised as truthful and reasonable. Amazing news for Sony in Germany. And even more buzz for them.

CameraSize added the new Sony 400mm FE lens in their database. On top you can see the new Sony vs the Canon. They don’t have the Nikon 400mm in their database so the best I can give you is this screenshot from Matt Grangers comparison:

The Sony is the shortest of the three by a small amount. But the real advantage is the lower weight and the better weight distribution. And than of course the faster in lens linear focusing mechanism.

Matt Granger made de world’s first comparison between the new Sony 400mm (SEL400F28GM), the Canon 400mm and the Nikon 400mm lenses. Pixel Peepers can download the 369mb ZIP file with RAW files on his website (Click here). Matt says:

Lighter, fast and optically superior – the Sony lens is damned impressive! However there are two issues…

The quirks are minor (but still annoying). Hopefully Sony can address them right in time when the lens will ship this September. Here is the video:

If you are in the search of max image quality whatever the size, then this lens can give you amazing results.
If you are more looking for a very good portrait lens for day to day use, then the Sony 85mm F1.8 & Sony 85mm F1.4 GM will be more suited for you

Marc Alhadeff review review of the Sigma 50mm F/1.4 DG HSM Art:

I am much more convinced by the Sigma 50mm F1.4 Art than by the Sigma 85mm F/1.4 DG HSM Art that is a monster to carry
It is a superb optic at a reasonable price vs other 50mm F1.4 and the size and weight are still acceptable for a day to day use even if on the heavy side

In summary, the Sigma 85mm F1.4 DG HSM is a great addition to the Sony full-frame family, offering another high-quality 85mm lens option to the range. It is a very large and heavy 85mm lens by mirrorless standards, though, and certainly isn’t going to appeal to those who believe that a mirrorless system should be small and light.
