All the rumors so far: Sony announcement, Sigma ART FE, Tamron E-mount, Tokina FE, Samyang and Laowa…

This Sigma roadmap shows the 50mm f/1.4 for APS-C E-mount

We posted many rumors the past days so let’s make a short recap:

1) Sony
Trusted: From trusted sources we know Sony will announce new “entry-mid” level Alpha camera and a new Flash on February 26 at the WPPI in Las Vegas.
Unconfirmed: We definitely will NOT get a new A7sIII. But it’s unconfirmed yet what that “entry-mid” level camera might be: A new A7III, A5300, A6500 or A77m3???

2) Sigma
Sigma should show their first ART FE lenses at the CP+ show. It’s unclear if one or some of the lenses will hit the market right away or if this will be more of a roadmap/development announcement.
There might be also a new 50mm f/1.4 lens for APS-C E-mount cameras.

3) Tamron
Tamron will announce a new 28-75mm f/2.8 FE lens.

4) Venus Optics
the Laowa 9mm f/2.8 will for APS-C E-mount will be announced in late March for $499.

5) Tokina
Tokina might finally show their two wide and super wide FE lens primes

6) Samyang
Samyang is going to announce a new portrait FE lens as next. But announcement date is yet unconfirmed. Could be ay Cp+ or shortly after that.

Curious note: If the rumored A7III specs will turn out to be true I will have some great rumor for the A7sIII too from the very same source…fingers crossed his A7III specs are correct!

First image samples shot with the new Sony 400mm f/2.8 OSS GM FE lens!

Yesterday a reader sent us new images of the Sony 400mm f/2.8 OSS GM FE lens that is being tested at the Olympics. Today our reader Max spotted the first images shot with this lens by Sony photographer Bob Martin! They are all posted on his Instagram channel: instagram.com/bubblesontour/.

This one for example is clearly taken with the 400mm lens:

Reminder: This lens will hit the market in September according to BHphoto. And it will surely cost $10,000+ just like the Canon 400mm lens :(

Two non-Sony lens leaks: Tamron 70-210mm and Samyang 50mm f/1.2

Two lens images got leaked the past 24 hours:

1) Image on top: Tamron 70-210mm f/4.0 for Canon and Nikon. I really don’t think they will make an A-mount version of this. This lens and the 28-75mm f/2.8 FE lens could be announced on February 22.

2) Image below: Samyang 50mm f/1.2. It’s yet unconfirmed if this is the lens we rumored days ago.

UPDATE: The Tamron lens will be announced on Feb 22:

New images of the Sony 400mm f/2.8 at the 2018 Olympics

Our reader Hendrik sent us new images of the Sony 400mm f/2.8 OSS FE GM lens. These where taken at the Olympics in Korea.
The Sony lens will be available in September according to BHphoto. We still don’t know when Sony will unveil the final pricing. But this won’t be a cheap lens. The Canon 400mm lens is listed for $9,999 at Amazon US.

(SR5) New “mid level” Sony Alpha camera and a new flash will be announced on February 26!

Finally trusted sources confirmed that on February 26 Sony will announce:

– one new “mid level” Alpha camera
– one new Flash

Trsusted source have yet NOT confirmed if that’s a new A7III or A6700 camera. But I believe that this is the new A7III (70% chance).

(SR3) I give it 50% chance the new A7III has those specs:

24 mpx sensor.
7 fps.
425 contrast points.
167 phase detection.
joystick.
Z batterie.
touch screen.
4k recording 24 .25 and 30 fps.
1080p 24.25.30 and 60.fps.
1899 us dollars.

Still no info about possible new lenses…but in the meantime join our Sony A7III group on facebook!

(SR5) New Laowa 9mm f/2.8 E-mount lens will cost $499

It is now 100% confirmed the new Laowa 9mm f/2.8 E-mount lens will cost $499 and it will be launched in March. The lens is designed for APS-C E-mount cameras (there will be a Fuji X-mount version too).
