On Monday September 19 at 15:00 Berlin time Sony will have a press conference. So far it seems like the big focus will be on the Sony World Photography Awards Gallery presentation. There is a fair chance that Sony will not announce any new camera.
This isn’t unexpected as Sony usually announces their important new products after those kind of major events to get the full spotlight. Two years ago they announced the new A7II after Photokina (in November).
Also note that the Kumamoto damage created a sever shortage on sensor. While other manufacturers like Olympus, Panasonic and Fuji will announce new cameras at Photokina all of them will ship in early 2017 only.

Now let’s hope I am wrong and Sony has a surprise we don’t know about yet…

A9 and A99II rumor hints: Our trusted sources (the same who for example correctly leaked to us correct info like the Sony E-mount lens image) confirmed both biggest rumors: The new High End E-mount camera is ready to be released on market within few months…and the new High End A99 successor development has finished. But the official release date is still “hush hush”. And in the case of the A-mount High End camera I do hope marketing also decides to put that camera into production. Sony pomised they would keep developing new A-mount cameras…so don’t blame yourself Sony ok?

The Polish site Optyczne published the first images of the Loxia 85mm f/2.4 Sonnar lens! The lens will be available in mid-December 2016 and its price will amount to 6199 PLN (around 1400 Euro).

The lens will be announced tomorrow at 11:00 Berlin time! It will be the fourth lens of the Loxia range after those:
Loxia 21mm at [shopcountry 46456].
Loxia 35mm at [shopcountry 47046].
Loxia 50mm at [shopcountry 47047].

Quick update on the Zeiss teaser news: I have been told that on Thursday (Sept 15) at 11:00 Berlin time Zeiss will announce a new Loxia lens! Be sure to follow the liveblogging of the announcement here on SAR!

Last week I told you Zeiss would launch a new FE lens by end of this week. And here it is the official Zeiss teaser! On Twitter and Facebook they write:

Hey friends of the @Sony α7! At #photokina you’ll have the chance to test a new lens. Any guesses? #ZEISSphk16

Guesses? Well this should be a new Loxia tele lens ;)

One of our sources confirmed Zeiss will launch new Sony FE lens(es) next week! He didnt’ share the specs yet and we don’t know if it’s a Batis or Loxia or both they will announce!

But we know one of the lenses Zeiss wanted to launch this year is a Loxia tele lens. If you remember it back in May Zeiss announced a new Loxia transport case where four Loxia lenses can fit inside. SAR readers Christian Schätzle got the chance to “test” the new Loxia bag and actually discovered a small interesting detail. The fourth “free spot” is actually around 1cm deeper than the 21mm Loxia spot (which is the longest lens of the three). This is another small indirect confirm that the next lens will be a tele lens (85mm likely) with 8cm lens length. Here is the video he shared today:
