Sony May 21-22 events related to new A6000 campaign launch. Tiny bit more to wait for the A6xxx launch.

Just like it happened with the Sony Australia press meeting (broken mirror teaser) we just have been told that the Sony press event on May 20-21 is purely related to the A6000 Manuel Neuer advertising campaign launch and the A7s cash back action. This means there is no A6xxx and A7rII launch on those days. We have (again) to wait a couple of days more than expected (so says a trusted source who shared correct rumors in the past and we hope he is correct on that rumor too).

Don’t be too upset. Just let’s hope Sony will make it right with the A6xxx and A7rII and fill them with that kind of features that will make us forgive the long wait for them! And the cameras are still rumored to ship few weeks after the announcement already.

A6xxx rumored specs:
The A6xxx was scheduled to be announced much earlier but had been delayed by Sony (probably for overheating issues). It’s rumored to be placed above the A6000 and be the successor of the NEX-7.

A7rII rumored specs:
The camera is not going to be the PRO level A9 camera. It will replace the A7r. It’s likely to have a new silent shutter, 5 axis stabilization and increased resolution. The camera is already in production and should ship end of June!

(SR3) More A6xxx and A7rII rumors!

The rumor background noise is increasing and a Sony announcement is coming the next days. Here are the rumors I got the last couple of hours from anonymous sources:

Source_1:

Spoke to a Sony representative today and he told me that this week Sony will announce a new APS-C camera to replace the NEX-7. He said once that camera is out there will be discounts on the a6000. He said a7r II might be announced together with the new APS-C camera or within a month. He also said that nothing suggests release of ultra high resolution camera soon.

Source_2:

A7rII: Speaking to a Sony rep he gave a knowing smile and said it definitely might have a silent shutter, I said so it will? He nodded. He said there would be an announcement before end of month.

Source_3:

Over 20 people have gotten the new A7R II though. Heard they gave it to some photographers to test out the new Zeiss lenses, and to test a new mode. From what I understood, it supports a high res handheld mode, but I did not get that confirmed.  They will be shipping the a6XXX model out soon also, so that might be ready for release by June 2015 :)

First Sony cashback A7s offer to be launched on May 21.

Sony is rumored to launch a cashback offer on the A7s on May 21. I don’t know if that cashback offer will also run on other cameras and in what countries. I have heard of UK and Germany so far. Let’s hope it will run worldwide. This is the first cashback offer on the A7s yet.

(SR4) New A6xxx will not replace the current A6000.

The following info comes from a trusted source. He said:

“The new camera will not replace the a6000. But will be in different positioning like  nex-6  and  nex-7“

This matches the info I got from another source a couple of days ago:

“I have been told by a Sony rep that the new A6xxx will replace [shoplink 36468 ebay]the NEX-7 too[/shoplink]”

This sounds like the new A6xxx will be a hybrid between the A6000 and the [shoplink 36468 ebay]NEX-7[/shoplink]. Intriguing!

It’s rumored that Sony will have an E-mount announcement the coming days and before June.

(SR2) Some more A7rII and 59MP camera info from a new source…

This one is from a new source and not confirmed by any trusted source or leak. But lately few trusted source proved to be wrong (wrong announcement date) and some non-trusted source proved to be right (Batis lens). So let’s see if that new source is spot on. I hope he is wrong because it would mean the A7rII will not get IBIS! Read here:

*Sony will be revealing the Apsc camera within a week.

*A7rII will remain with the 36mp sensor….Release will be before June but not announcement. No IBIS on the new A7rII but will have the new body/ergo style…Sony plans on keeping the IBIS(A7), R, and the S all exclusive to attract different markets in the photo/video world.. $-]

*Ax, will have the 59mp sensor and new raw sensor…(Hint for announcement: 5dsr will be heart broken when it compete against sales)

Would really be surprising if Sony would NOT add IBIS on the A7rII…

May 20-21-22 announcement:
I keep receiving more confirmations that there is a major E-mount camera announcement next week around May 20-21-22! I also got some more info about cameras I will publish soon after I get some confirmations from other sources…

Today Sony’s Australia event:
Sony Australia had a meeting today with journalists and photographers but their touch and try session has been made with the current camera/lenses . Like it happened with the A7II and the recent FE lens announcements it looks like Sony prefers to announce new products in “solo” without any special journalist/photographers meeting like other companies do. Anyway, there are only 5-6 days now we have to wait to see the new E-mount stuff!

(SR3) Two new FE cameras coming?

Back in March a trusted source told me two things:
1) The A7rII is already in production and will likely ship in June (article here).
2) Sony has also a second 50MP camera model in the works (article here).

And right now I just got that directly from another Sony “insider” anonymous source:

We heard from our rep yesterday that there would be two new ff cameras announced both a7rmkii and a8?! He seemed to think that the a7rii would be as the a7ii, just better erg and is. The a8 is apparently the high MP 50+ body.

First of all thanks to the anonymous source! And damn, let’s hope this one now becomes real just like the SR3 Batis lens rumor we posted in January :)
