(SR4) New Sigma A-mount lenses will be available in 18 months only :(

This is the kind of rumors I do not like to post. But I got word from a good source that the new Sigma 24mm f/1.4 ART and 14-24mm ART lenses that will be announced at Photokina will be available in their A-mount version in 18 months only!!!

Sigma wants first to focus on Canon and Nikon mount version. They predict they cannot produce enough of those lenses for the first year. Therefore A-mount (and likely K-mount) production will start around early 2016 only.

This is the exact the same story we had with the Sigma 18-35mm f/1.8 A-mount lens. At last I hope the 50mm ART will ship soon. Preorders are already up at Amazon (Click here) at BHphoto (Click here) and Adorama (Click here). In Europe at WexUK (Click here) and WexDe (Click here).

(SR5) Zeiss will soon announce the new “Loxia” lens line for Sony Full Frame E-mount!

The Zeiss trademarked logo at Trademarkia.com

Zeiss will soon announce a new line of lenses named “Loxia”. It will be made for the Full Frame Sony E-mount system! The characteristic of those lenses are:

– They are native E-mount Full Frame lenses
– These are designed and made by Zeiss itself. These are not Zeiss branded and Sony manufactured lenses like the Zeiss 55mm f/1.8 FE for example.
– These are manual focusing prime lenses (allows a more compact design).
– They have a physical aperture ring on the lens.
– Made of very high material quality.
– There will be many of such lenses coming the next 12 months.

Exciting!!! Stay tuned on SAR. I am working to get the lens specs as soon as it gets….

I have no specs of the new lenses yet but Zeiss already made manual focusing lenses for “non-DSLR”. These are the Zeiss “Full Frame” ZM analog camera lenses:

(SR4) Samyang rumored to launch a new cheap and high quality 50mm t/1.5 lens for mirrorless systems.

I got word from a good source that Samyang will show a new 50mm f/1.5 lens for “some” mirrorless system cameras. I guess Samyang will not exclude the popular E-mount :)
The source told me the lens will have a low price, manual focusing only and of high optical quality. He didn’t share if the lens is made for APS-C E-mount cameras only or also for FF E-mount.

Reminder: Back in April Samyang said it’s difficult to add autofocus on  E-mount system (article here). And they also announced 5 new E-mount lenses you can buy at BHphoto:

8mm f/2.8 UMC Fish-Eye as Sony E mount (Click here).
10mm f/2.8 ED AS NCS CS lens as Sony E mount (Click here) and as Sony A mount (Click here).

24mm f/1.4 ED AS IF UMC lens as Sony E-mount (Click here).

And those are their E-mount Cine lenses:

(SR5) More images of the strange selfie-camera with Sonys curved sensor (and specs confirmed).

Here are more images of the Sony KW1 selfie camera which is the first camera using Sony’s new curved sensor tech!

This is also interesting for us because Sony stated they have developed a Full Frame curved sensor too. And that new Kw1 proves that kind of sensor is 100% ready for production. Let’s see that damn RX1s soon! :)

UPDATE: Now officially listed at Sony China.

(SR5) Sony will launch a new ILCE-QX1 camera!

I got this news weeks ago and now we got a proof via the Russian agency Novocert (Thanks Photorumors for spotting this). Sony will launch a new QX E-mount camera. it will be called ILCE-QX1. It’s basically a sensor and mount module that let’s you fit E-mount lenses on your smart phone or tablet!

I really don’t know if there is a market for this :)

P.S.: Photorumors also confirmed the rumor we posted last week. There will be a new 35mm G lens and a 70-300mm f/4.5-5.6G (article here).
