I know folks, sometimes Sony disappointed us, sometimes my rumors disappointed you. But this time I am 99% sure the rumors I got are good ;)

Good and Bad news in Sony financial report: Substantial slowdown in demand in camera

Sony released the full 2020 financial report. And Sony reports a 57% drop in fourth-quarter profit (Jan-March 2020) because of the Covd19 outbreak. And In Q4 the still and video camera/lens sales dropped by 25% compared to last year

There is also a good and bad news. Bad news first:

Sales and profit from digital cameras are being significantly impacted by a substantial slowdown in demand around the world.

Good news:

In China and Thailand, the factories owned by Sony that make digital cameras and smartphones are currently operating as usual.

Also the imaging sensor production is back to normal.

Overall nothing is getting in the way to announce new products from now on :)

RUMOR: There will not be a new Sony A7IV in June….but definitely another new “FF E-mount camera”

I told you that after the ZV1 announcement on May 26 Sony will have a major announcement in June. We should get at least a new FF E-mount camera but from what I heard so far this will NOT be the A7IV. So chances are good to get the A7sII successor or/and something else. One thing for sure: We will get new FE lenses too!

But I expect to get many more details soon. Stay tuned as usual!

CONFIRMED: Sony ZV1 will be announced on May 26. First info about the camera!

I can now confirm via multiple sources that around May 26 Sony will announce the new “Sony ZV1” compact selfie camera. The camera is specially made for vloggers and has the following characteristics:

1. Improved mic
2. Vari Angle LCD
3. 24-70mm F1.8 – 2.8
4.One Touch Bokeh Feature
5. Auto Object Detect
6. Existing Real Time AF and Real time Eye AF

Don’t worry, after the May 26 event Sony will have a MAJOR Full Frame E-mount event in June!  And keep always in mind SAR was the only website reporting the ZV1 rumor yet. All the others are copycats ;)
