New Nokton 35mm f/1.4 FE lens listed at BH

Share

The newly announced Nokton 35mm f/1.4 FE lens listed at BHphoto. But there is still no pricing info. I guess it will be priced around $700-800.

In the meantime I am testing the Voigtlander 40mm f/1.2 FE (see image 1, image 2, image 3, image 4 and image 5). I wasn’t convinced by the focal length but after using it for days I am liking it more than I would have expected. Only concern is that here in Antwepren it’s raingin 90% of the time and the lens isn’t weather sealed :(

And because it rains that often I am shooting most of my pics in trams:

The first fake rumor of the year show us the “A6” and some “A6700” speculative specs :)

Image also posted on my Instagram account

New Year brings us the first new fake rumors too :)

An anonymous source sent us this picture of the A6 with the following message:

“Sony A6 to replace A6500. 2018.”

And than there is this pure speculative rumor about the A6700 posted by Fotografia.it (via Dpreview forum).

The design will follow that of the A6500, but with a new 24 Mpxl APS-C sensor, and a processor that will solve the problem of overheating.
The new mirrorless will offer a wide 16-stop dynamic range and a 15-fps burst rate with 16-bit Raw file saving.
Improvements will affect the autofocus system and video, with the 4K format at 60 fps
The current A6500 has great problems of autonomy with 310 viewfinder shots; logical therefore expect improvements on the front of battery life.
The announcement could be given in the second half of 2018.

These are the expected characteristics:

Better AF, like accuracy and sensitivity
1 / 8000s shutter
Faster gust
Flash sync 1 / 250s
Improved electronic shutter
A better stabilizer
Two memory card slots, with UHS-II support
Raw processing in the car
Double exposure
Wi-Fi connectivity
Greater speed in startup, and greater reactivity
Adjustable touchscreen monitor

Just my two cent: First of all I don’t think this A6 kind of designed camera would make sense at all. The A6xxx series should keep the current form factor whcih is just fine! And call me crazy, but I think the A6700 will have a new Higher resolution sensor. This ebcause I alreayd heard about some new Sony APS-C sensor with close to 30+ MP sensor…

FieldMonitor 4.3 adds Focus Assist (works with Sony Alpha Cameras)

Share

Adam Wilt updated his FieldMonitor 4.3 APP which now has Focus Assist:

FieldMonitor is an iPhone app for Wi-Fi monitoring and control of Panasonic Lumix and Sony Alpha cameras, aimed at video production. It has long had exposure aids like false color, histograms, and waveform monitors; markers, framelines, and grids; LUTs and anamorphic support, but it wasn’t a great choice for focus pulling due to the low-resolution images sent over Wi-Fi… until now.
FieldMonitor version 4.3 adds two Focus Assist modes: a peaking control like those found in professional video viewfinders, and an “edge mode” that paints a bright edge-detection image over a lower-contrast normal picture. Both assist modes are fully adjustable so you can dial in just the strength needed for any shot.
Focus Assist is built into FieldMonitor and doesn’t depend on the camera’s focusing aids, so it works for any supported camera and operates just as well while recording as it does in standby.
