Phase One announced the new iMX industrial/drone camera. What’s cool on this thing is that it’s the world’s first camera using the new Sony 100Megapixel backilluminated 44x33mm sensor!
Fuji, Hasselblad and Pentax will use this sensor on their future cameras too. And maybe Sony will launch an RX camera with that sensor too? Me dreaming :)

There are no image samples yet but these are the sensor specs:

First Tamron 28-75mm FE autofocus test!

Share

In the US at BHphoto, BuyDig and Adorama for $799.
in the EU at WexUK, Fotokoch for 829 Euro or 699 pounds.

I have little doubt the new Tamron 28-75mm FE lens will deliver high image quality. But the big unknown until today was…how good (or bad) will be its autofocus performance compared to the Sony 24-70mm GM lens?

Well today we got the first answer! Our reader Marcell just spotted this first autofocus test video:

Of course we have to see more in-depth videos to draw a final conclusion…but so far it seems to work pretty well!

Competition news: New Nikon High End Mirrorless to be on market by Spring 2019

Share

The Japanese TV NHK interview Nikon. And the one news that might be interesting for SAr readers is this: Nikon confirmed their new mirrorless system camera will be on market by Spring 2019. So exactly one year from now.

There are no reliable specs yet but this is most likely a new Full Frame mirrorless system with new mount. And it will directly compete with Sony’s A7-A9 system

Nikoneye.com believes the first camera will be an entry-level FF which is going to compete with the new Sony A7III.

Any thoughts on that?

Lyubo:I just wanted to share an extreme sport video shot on the A7SII in the Austrian Alps during the winter, very often in below freezing level temperatures, and the A7SII handled it without any issues, but looking forward to the A7SIII with improved battery and even more and better slow motion capabilities. https://youtu.be/XlmIzHl15O8

Ben:Except for the drone shots, I shot this entire video on Sony cameras. I used everything from the Sony F55 to my Sony A7RIII. Surprisingly, more than 50% of the shots in the finished video are from the A7RIII. Its improved AF saved my butt and allowed me to pull off gimbal shots that would’ve been unthinkable otherwise. https://youtu.be/8CHXk8gZLZk
