Anirban: “I’ve been following your blog for about a year now and find it quite informative. I recently took my Sony A99 for a journey up the Rockies. I’ve recorded my journey at http://www.eternallycreative.com/adventures/rockies
The entire journey was shot with a Sony A99 with a Zeiss 24mm f/2.0. The camera and lens combination has been my go-to choice for landscape photography. I would like to share this as I think it’ll help anyone in the fence about buying an A99.
Anonymous: Hi Andrea, hope you have managed to get some relaxing time with your family over these past days. Not sure if you are interested to know about this and share it with your readers. There is a brand new Sony Center openned in the beautiful Hungarian town of Gyor. The owner filmed the new store being built here http://vimeo.com/73910125 the same store manager also filmed Paul Genge (ex Sony UK) wedding in Hungary a couple of weeks ago. http://vimeo.com/72616351 thought you might like to see the films all shot on Sony a99 and a65

(SR3) A99 will run out of production in late November?

I am really not sure if the rumor I got is correct. But if it is this means the A99 will soon be replaced by another model. According to a new source the A99 production will cease on November 30. As you know I got an info from a top source that Sony will launch an ILCE-9 or A9 E-mount Full Frame camera within the next 4-5 months. The big question is, when the A-mount A99 successor will be announced. Note: Sony officially said that the new E-mount DSLR shaped cameras will not replace the A-mount cameras (Source: Amateur Photographer).

Current A99 price check: [shopcountry 14165].

One more thing: Again an A77 Gold Box deal in Germany (more at DealsRunner.com).

Source talks about a surprise….

Share

Yesterday I wrote how Sony will announce the NEX-FF and likely RX10 and ICLE-7 (and ILCE-9?) in mid October. Now I got this rumor from another source:

“The big announcement will have even more than expected. Was informed something else “special” to appear as well, came from Sony-Japan.”

Maybe the source can just give us tony bot more info about the “special” thing? Thanks :)

Something else: The mobile theme of SAR has been fixed. Tablet owners can now surf this site way better than before!

Zeiss 35mm f/2.8 FE lens has exactly the size of the 35mm f/2.0 from the RX1.

Share

As noted by Lepidi the soon to be announced Zeiss Sonnar FE 35mm f/2.8 lens has the same size of the Zeiss 35mm f/2.0 lens from the Sony RX1/R. It shows the advantage of the fixed lens FF RX camera where the lens has been designed to be as close as it gets to the sensor. That’s why NEX-FF lenses will be always bigger than lenses fixed on a RX FF camera.

Here are again the FE Zeiss specs (compared with current Zeiss 24mm APS-C lens).

(SR5) Sony sends out invitations for a “Big” event! Full Frame NEX-9 coming.

Share

A dozen (yes a dozen!) of European stores just sent me messages to tell me that they got an important invitation from Sony. These are big and very small store owners. They told me that Sony invited them for a very important meeting where Sony will show them something “BIG” in the digital camera market (that’s the word used by Sony). Every store got different meeting days. But these are all days in the week between the 14 and 18 of October.

I am going to share one of the mail I received from a small store owner (Thanks to the anonymous sender). This is what he wrote:

I work at a small camera retail store in a small country in Europe. Yesterday we got mail from Sony. There will be a meeting on October 18.
And the fact, that we get an invitation, means it must be something big. Every other announcement Sony makes, we get via mail. On the next day…
It didn’t say, what will be announced. But… Last time our Sony representative told us, that there will come a “Full Frame NEX 7” soon.

I repeat the public announcement date isn’t known yet. These are only a sort of “private meeting”. But the NEX-9 Full Frame camera will be definitely official for the PhotoPlus show in NYC!

Note: This is the first time even small store owners got an invitation. It shows you how “BIG” an important the announcement is. New RX, NEX-FF, ILCE cameras and many Zeiss and Sony lenses will be announced. I am very excited…and you?

Sony planet is small in the digital camera universe :)

Share

Stockphotosecrets posted that image (Click here) showing what cameras are the most used on Dreamtime service. As you can see the Sony world is quite small! There is a lot to do to catch up with the two big ones, better cameras, better support, better pricing…I want it all ;)

Let’s hope the new RX, ILCE and NEX-FF cameras will be the first step into the right direction to make that small planet grow!
