Zeiss Loxia 21mm lens review at Mirrorlessons

Mirrorlessons reviewed the new [shoplink 44222]Loxia 21mm f/2.8 lens[/shoplink] and writes:

The Loxia 2.8/21 delivers exactly what you’d expect from a Zeiss lens. It is sharp at the centre, sharp in the corners, handles flare like a pro, and doesn’t show any relevant traces of CA. There is some slight vignetting at f/2.8 but it can be easily corrected with any software. As such, it doesn’t really qualify as a negative point since it happens with almost every wide angle lens. The only thing I couldn’t test because of the bad weather was coma aberration for astro images.
Of course, we could also talk about the price. This lens is not cheap by any means but if you look at the entire Zeiss catalogue, you will find that it fits in the usual price range applied to this type of lens. The Milvus lenses or old classic ZF/ZE versions are actually more expensive. So yes, the price is high but the lens delivers exactly what it promises.

Zeiss v. Zeiss -Battle of the 35mm’s – Loxia & Sony

Gareth:Hi, it’s clearly not fully developed & released yet, but the new Wireless Trigger ” Air R” that works with the Nissin Air Commander has appeared on the Nissin site. This will allow users to add other flashes (including the fantastically compact i40) to the Air Commander control system. http://www.nissindigital.com/air_r.html One of the few affordable native hot-shoe compatible systems. Much more affordable than Sony of Phottix flash.

Joe:I just dumped a trove of APS-C E mount zoom test shots onto my blog, along with a bit of commentary:

That was a lot of work, I hope somebody else finds it useful.

(SR5) Sony to announce two compact cameras along the A6100: HX80 and HX350

Share
[shoplink 44224 ebay]

[/shoplink] Image on top shows the current [shoplink 44224 ebay]HX300[/shoplink].

A small correction first. We reported earlier there would be a HX400 successor. The source corrected the info because the camera will replace the HX300 and not the HX400.

So far he heard of three cameras going to be announced soon by Sony:

Sony A6100 E-mount APS-C
Sony HX350 fixed lens compact
Sony HX80 fixed lens compact

Still no 100% reliable info about the “high End” stuff. But stay tuned…

Kickstarter project modifies 50mm f/0.75 De Oude Delft lenses to be used on Sony cameras.

[shoplink 44189 ebay][/shoplink]

Marc from Berlin sent me his Kickstarter project description:

We’re a small fine mechanics company from Germany and have worked on these two ultra high speed lenses for the last year or so. The result is one full frame Leica M mount lens, perfect for mirrorless cameras of any system, and one dedicated lens for Micro Four Thirds cameras.
Both are now ready and so we’ve started a kickstarter campaign to make them available.  I’m sure your readers are curious to find out more or even get one for themselves.
Here’s where people can find our project: https://www.kickstarter.com/projects/1745517054/50-mm-f-075-the-fastest-photographic-lens-in-the-w
And here’s where they can find us: https://www.facebook.com/ExperimentalOptics/

What MArc does is take the current “Dutch” [shoplink 44189 ebay]De Oude Delft lenses (can be found here on eBay)[/shoplink] and modify them into M-mount lenses. That way the lens can be adapted on Sony E-mount. The great news is that it covers full frame without any vignetting! Image samples shot with the A7r can be seen on the Kickstarter site.
