A99II image by Michał Wiatrowski (fotopapiery.pl)

SAR reader Michał Wiatrowski (fotopapiery.pl) managed to save and share a few full size A99II image samples.  Michael writes: “It’s a fantastic camera. And in my opinion it’s very good in iso/noise. It’s fast, got a lot of details and this will be my next camera

UPDATE: Sony asked Michal to remove the RAW files because they were not representative of the final image quality because shot on a preproduction camera. SAR therefore removed the links. Instead you can see full size JPG images at Sony.net.

You can now preorder the new Sony A99II:
In USA at BHphoto, Adorama and Amazon.
In Europe at Calumet Germany and WexUK.

First Amazon sales ranking results: Welcome back in the top ranking A-mount!

a99ii

Considered that most of the bloggers and reviewers thought A-mount is dead the A99II preorders are surprisingly good according to the Amazon DSLR ranking (Click here to see the list). On the first sales day it’s doing better than the A7sII which was the last announced FF E-mount camera. Not bad at all.

Kimio Maki confirms: “Sony will continue to create new cameras for A-mount”

a-mount

SAR was one of the few sites saying A-mount wasn’t dead and that the A99II would come (although the release timing was unclear). Still, there are many other bloggers and folks that believe that the A99II will be the last A-mount camera…and therefore A-mount is dead anyway. Well…wrong again! Sony manager Kimio Maki just got interviewed by Amateur Photographer:

“Maki confirmed that Sony will continue to create new camera systems for A-mount, telling AP he is confident there is sufficient demand.” Maki said: “Running A-mount alongside the E-mount is very important. A-mount is a keeper.”

And there are many more info on that second article:

  1. Sony will develop new A-mount lenses depending on the customers request
  2. A-mount users hail from Japan and Europe, although he did not know how many exist worldwide.
  3. About touchscreen: “We may have to add touchscreen panels to our entry-level models, but professionals don’t require it. If the professionals change their mind and put in the request we may need to change this in the future.

Just an idea: Sony should release a lens roadmap for A-mount. That’s the kind of things that create confidence around the system!
