New image of the Hasselblad medium format system camera with Sony 50MP sensor!

Hassleblad

The image above shows you a part of the new Hassleblad camera that will be announced on June 22 at 14:00 Berlin time. It seems to be highly likely that Sony is involved into this project too. At least with the 50MP medium format sensor but probably also with some more tech. So the camera will be:

– First Hasselblad mirrorless system camera
– Sony 50MP sensor (twice the area an the FF sensor)
– Built-in viewfinder

It will be interetsing to see what kind of mount Hassleblad will use for this. And if Sony could “join” that system sometimes in the near future!

Hasselblad is teasing the event with the phrase “game changer in the world of photography”. Ming Thein also writes:

“let’s say I do have some knowledge about what this might be, and it’s at least twice as interesting as they promise:) Feel free to speculate away in the comments; I shall neither confirm nor deny…”

That sounds promising!!!

Hasselblad will make a surprise announcement on June 22 and you can follow it live!

The days of Sony clone camera like the Stellar and Lunar are over. And Hasselblad wants signal the new era by announcing a “game changer in the world of photography“. You can follow the announcement live on June 22 at 14:00 CET time (Berlin time). There is yet no clue about what camera they will announce. I am pretty confident that this might be a new mirrorless system camera. Not sure if it’s medium format. It will be also interesting to see how Sony is involved in this!

Jonathan Stewart and Matt Granger discuss what Sony has to do to fulfill wildlife photographers needs

How well does a Sony mirrorless camera take an African safari? How does it handle the dust? What about using it for wildlife? People and landscapes? Matt Granger and Jonathan Stewart discussed the pros and cons of the Sony mirrorless system when compared to the top of the line from Nikon.

Their answers in short:

  1. We need a bigger Sony A9 body (with bigger battery)
  2. E-mount version of the current 300mm A-mount and 500mm A-mount telephoto lenses (possibly priced less!)
  3. Bullet proof autofocus system to not miss any shot
  4. No interface lag

The question is if Sony thinks that wildlife and sport photography are important for their business right now. It’s a real small niche and it’s hard to win over professional Canon and Nikon photographers!
