German reviewer Jens Knotte posted that A77II vs A77 buffer test. Just skip to the right minute to skip the German introduction (if you don’t understand it):

1:20 JPG buffer test
3:00 RAW+JPG buffer test

And there is an AF speed too (youtube video here). Go to minute 5:00 to see the AF speed test.

(SR4) RX100M3 announcement next Thursday (May 15)

Share

I got this from one trusted source and I hope to double confirm it soon (including exact announcement hour). The source said the RX100M3 will be announced on Thursday May 15. Specs have been confirmed by multiple sources and here they are again in case you missed to read them:

20MP sensor (same as RX100M2 model)
ISO 125-25600
24-70mm f/1.8-2.8 lens
Built in View finder (SVGA OLED Tru-Finder 1440k dots)
Tiltable screen (180 degrees up)
Record in XAVC S format (Same format of the Sony A7s but with no 4K output option).
Almost same size and weight as the current RX100/M2 models.
I have been told all other specs are the same of the current RX100II model.
Price is said to be around 800-850 Euro in Europe. Should be around $800-850 in USA (US price is my guess)

Sigma 18-35mm A-mount still scheduled for a late May release!

Share

A couple of SAR readers contacted Sigma to ask if the Sigma 18-35mm f/1.8 A-mount lens will inded ship in May as previously stated by Sigma. They got a positive answer and expected first shipment for end of May! So if you want to preorder it click over at the Sigma page on Amazon US (Click here), BHphoto (Click here) and Adorama (Click here).

Note that also Redcoon Germany (click here) says the lens will ship by End of May:

Reminder: DxOmark tested the Sigma 18-35mm f/1.8 lens and said:

The Sigma 18-35mm f1.8 DC HSM A remains an outstanding example of what’s achievable with modern lens designs. And at $799, it’s reasonably accessible in price as well.

Reminder_2: The very best Sigma lens, the new 50mm ART can be preordered at Amazon US (Click here), BHphoto (Click here) and Adorama (Click here)

First real Sony A7s High Iso test!

Share

Click on image to enlarge (Courtesy of DCfever).

The Chinese site DCfever posted the first real Sony A7s High ISO test. Please remember that firmware of the camera is 0.01 only! And these are Jpegs too (as usual RAW will show a better performance). At first glance all I can say is that up to ISO 25,600 images do look pretty good. Real huge deterioration happens only from 102.400 ISO towards.

Again, I repeat: The A7s images with final firmware will look even better! And if you buy the new [shoplink 26501 ebay]Mitakon 50mm f/0.95 on eBay (Click here)[/shoplink] you will be able to shoot ghost at night too :)

Reminder: You will need the Atomos Shogun at BHphoto (Click here) to grab 8bit 4:2:2 4K video.

[ArtBenny Video] Sony A7s iso test from benny wong on Vimeo.

Today Sony announced the A7s in Hong Kong and Japan. And our reader Benny shared videos and image to SonyAlphaRumors. The video on top shows you the High Iso performance in complete darkness. He also sent me the first full size image samples taken with the A7s. These go up to 40.000 ISO and you can download them here at Wetransfer (10MB zip file). Please do not remove the copyright note if you share them (and kindly link back to SonyAlphaRumors as source).

This is the image taken at ISO 40.000 in complete darkness and with the [shoplink 26511 ebay]Canon 50mm f/0.95 lens[/shoplink]. I know it’s noisy but as you see on the video on top the room is really COMPLETELY DARK!

And this is ISO 800 with the small lights on:

If crazy High ISO is what you need than the A7s is for you. And remember that since today you can also buy a “cheap” native [shoplink 26501 ebay]Mitakon 50mm f/0.95 on eBay (Click here)[/shoplink]. Also note that the A7s hd a very early 0.01 firmware version. Image Quality will improve with the final firmware which will be ready right before the first July shipment.
