CP+

The big CP+ show starts on February 12 with the companies press conferences to announce their new products. Sony will actually have their press conference on February 13 at 11:30 Tokyo time (Source: CP+ pdf file). Hiroki Nagahama from Sony will talk for 45minutes and the title of his speech is:

“The world of super-high sensitivity of α7s, and the technology of supporting it”

Sony will surely release the new FE lenses and likely also show an updated FE lens roadmap. My trusted sources got reliable info on new cameras like the High Megapixel E-mount FF, A7000, RX curved sensor camera. But they could not tell me yet when Sony will actually announce them. I am yet not sure Sony will announce one or more of these cameras at CP+. Sony lately has quite a strange policy to announce their camera AFTER the big shows like it happened with the A7II that has been announced 2 months after Photokina. Still, I am confident at least one new camera is coming at CP+ :)

First comparison between the new Samyang 135mm lens and the Zeiss 135mm.

Tystory (Click here) is the only reviewing site that got his hands on the Samyang 135mm f/2.0 which comes in both A-mount (Click here) and E-mount (Click here). The review shows a comparison between the new Samyang and the much more expensive Zeiss 135mm f/1.8 A-mount lens.

The reviewer doesn’t draw any conclusions but shows a very detailed comparison and it’s quite clear that the Samyang is a very good lens! At first glance the Samyang looks a tiny bit sharper wide open and also suffers of less color fringing.

Of course we have to see more tests to draw any meaningful and more “final” conclusion But I am sure Samyang (as usual) has again delivered a very fine lens here.

The new lenses from Samyang can be preorderes at BHphoto:

135mm t/2.2 Cine for Sony A-mount (Click here) and Sony E-mount (Click here).

(SR3) A7RII (or A9) coming in two weeks from now?

Share

I just got this….

“New high end A7R MK2 being spoken about at Sony and an announcement in the coming weeks. I know there is rumors about an ‘A9’ and they may be referring to this model, or perhaps there will be two models – or Sony may stick to A7R II as the new model.”

Let’s hope we will finally get the new High Megapixel FE camera!

P.S.: Thanks source! ;)

Miguel Quiles sent me the following mail:

Hey SAR! I’m going to be doing a free seminar at Adorama on Jan 20th that will be live streamed or recorded for the internet. I’ll be talking about my transition from shooting with Canon DSLR’s to Sony Alpha cameras (particularly the A7II and A6000). I will also be doing a live shoot showing how I use these cameras with Canon glass via adapters. You can see the details for the event at the link below and feel free to share if you think your readers might be interested. Thanks!

The number of Flickr members owning a Sony mirrorless cameras is growing.

The graph on top has been posted by Flickr and shows the “mirrorless share” of the Flickr members. As you see Sony is growing and Micro Four Thirds shrinking. Fuji is doing really well and maybe Sony should learn from it and do the following:

1) Copy the “kaizen” philosophy. It means offer constant support and firmware upgrades on all cameras.
2) Create a spot on lens line with not to expensive and very necessary prime and zoom lenses.

Do you agree with me SAR readers? :)

And here are the most popular mirrorless cameras on Flickr:
