Meantime the RX1 is shipping in multiple stores and we have alreayd 10 customers reviews on Amazon (read here). New RX1 (expensive) auctions are availabe on eBay US and eBay Uk.
SAR reader Josh shared this screenshot that proves how Amazon US (Click here) is shipping the very first Sony RX1 preorders! SAR reader Futile also will soon get his camera: “My RX1 shipped today. Will be arriving on Monday (I had 1 day delivery selected on Amazon US). I ordered on Sept 11th.”
UPDATE: First RX1 is also on acution on [shoplink 15715 ebay]eBay USA (Click here).
Gosh, would love to buy an RX1 too but price in EU is too high!
Last week I reported about that new Jackar 34mm f/1.8 lens with native E-mount. The lens is right now in Stock and shipping on [shoplink 15707 ebay]eBay (Click here to check price and shipping terms)[/shoplink].
As I have told you this is a manual lens and all specs and images can be read/seen at Snapshooter.jackarlens.com and on Flickr. It’s absed on the design of current C-mount lenses that usuall sell for [shoplink 15551 ebay] $40 here on eBay[/shoplink]. But they changed the material, finishing, the ring is larger and turning has been improved. Plus the lenses are multi-coated and of course mount is NEX. It comes with a lens hood and genuine leather case as you see form the images below. So is it worthy to pay more for it? That is a question you have to answer for yourself :)

A greta video shot on Sony cameras by Khairil Bahar (on youtube).
SAR reader Meng sent me this: “Share a stunning video by Khairil Bahar where he uses RX100, NEX system and other Sony Handycam series for some of his short film production. http://www.youtube.com/user/khaimano“ Hosam: “I would like to share my actual project, about our local wheel-chair basketball-team here in Ulm/Germany. Captured on the little and powerful Sony NEX-7 with a nice set of lenses and equipment. As always, I would really appreciate your support, as we are tryin to push their popularity…motivated by the human spirit for respect and social intercourse. https://vimeo.com/54108761” Gene: “Being an owner of the A77 since they first hit the market, I follow the developments with Sony’s new technology very closely. I’m a Hard Core photographer, with a background in Industrial Design, so I have been thinking for months about improvements that could be made.
To that end, I’ve written an open letter to Sony, outlining the features that would help the serious amateur, the Hard Core guy.
Just posted on my blog… http://preferredaperture.blogspot.com/” Robert: “I’m not sure if you’re interested in this sort of thing, but we just started using the Sony a57 and some Minolta and Sony lenses for our low budget film productions. Here’s a teaser trailer with all footage shot on the a57. 720p Vimeo version: https://vimeo.com/54241839 1080p Youtube version: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=rRTUM0aP63I”
P.S.: More readers work will follow soon! Today I will read all the mails I didn’t read that week!
Some SAR readers have been notified that their preordered Sony RX1 will ship next Tuesday December 4th via Amazon (Click here). Yesterday European Sonystores (DE–UK–FR–IT–ES–NL–SE–FI–CH) also started to ship the camera. Don’t forget that you can save some money by buying the $7 cheap chinese metal hood ([shoplink 15410 ebay]there is one here on eBay[/shoplink]) instead of the original expensive Sony hood.
And here are some new RX1 related news:
Kerry sent us the link to his RX1 article on Mysonyrx1. Than we have a first slow motion video on youtube. A video shot in Yokohama on youtube. An AF test by SLRclubreview on youtube.
As I told you this week Sony is on the verge of big decisions. And they are testing many FF prototypes some of them are quite different from what we have seen on the market the last years. All I can anticipate with a certain reliability is that Sony will definitely introduce plenty of new APS-C SLT and NEX cameras the first half of 2013. And I am almost certain no new Full Frame SLT or NEX camera will be announced during that time. The High END FF prototype and the other FF prototypes I heard of are still being evaluated and tested and Sony still has to take the final decision about their possible release time and final specs.
In short, Sony has to decide if they want to take a more revolutionary path or a more evolutionary approach. My suggestion to Sony, do that what will really set a difference from Canon and Nikon. No more half heart games.
P.S.: I am 100% sure there will be no more optical viewfinder FF cameras. So don’t keep asking me that anymore :) P.S: One A900 demo (new condition) A900 for sale on eBay (via Slidoo).
Reminder (SR = Sonyrumor): SR1=probably fake rumor SR2=rumor from unknown sources SR3=50% chance it is correct SR4=rumor from known sources SR5=almost certainly correct!
Kai from Digitalrev posted that A99 vs Nikon D600 comparison video. In his opinion the Nikon has the edge. But as he correctly stated, the best camera is the one that fulfills your real need. And the A99 has quite some areas that are unmatched by the Nikon.
Kai doesn’t really like the EVF but the German website Digitalkamera (translation here) writes: “Der elektronische Sucher der A99 ist eine Wucht” which means “The electronic viewfinder of the A99 is stunning.”
And here are some new links to work done by SAR readers:
