Irix extends its line of film lenses with the ultra wide-angle Irix Cine 15mm T2.6
Irix, the producer of the Cine series, currently has a set of cinematographic lenses in its portfolio, including an 11mm ultra wide-angle lens, a standard 45mm lens, and a 150mm macro telephoto lens. Today Irix premieres their fast, filter-ready wide-angle cine lens, the Irix Cine 15mm T2.6. This product will open unlimited possibilities for filmmakers and cinematographers alike.

New Lens, New Possibilities
The newest member of the family, the Irix Cine 15mm T2.6, is a fast, filter-ready ultra wide-angle lens, which makes it an extremely versatile piece of equipment that works in a multitude of lighting conditions.
The Irix Cine 15mm T2.6 optical system is made up of 15 elements arranged in 11 groups (including 3 HR lenses, 2 EDs, and 2 ASPHs). Its precise construction ensures beautiful and vivid colors, image sharpness, and minimal distortion, despite the ultra-wide field of view. The high quality construction ensures low lens breathing, which is an extremely important feature in filmmaking.
Like all Irix Cine line lenses, it is designed for filming at a maximum resolution of 8K UHD, allowing for super-panorama shots (CinemaScope).

Irix Cine family
Ease of use and convenience is extremely important to us. Irix Cine lenses are ready for any film set. Very similar weights (as well as equal distances between rings) between Irix Cine lenses accelerate work on the set, without forcing changes of gimbals, rigs, tripods, etc. Irix also offers an innovative magnetic mounting system (MMS) for accessories, such as sun visors or lens covers.

Irix Cinematic Design
Irix lenses are used by both professional operators and amateurs alike. Irix Cine 15mm T2.6 has all the features and properties necessary to wora on the set. By minimizing the phenomenon of diffraction, the lens aperture (made of 9 rounded blades), provides a sharp image, regardless of the T value. The precise mechanics allow for the smooth adjustment of the T value from T2.6 to T22.
As with other Irix Cine lenses, the product has been equipped with an innovative adaptive ring that allows for ergonomic work both in manual sharpening and with follow-focus systems, thanks to which you can easily and quickly adjust your lens to your rig. The 180 degree focusing ring ensures precise alignment and a smooth focus pulling.
The lens front has been optimized to work with 95mm matte boxes. Toothed rings (Mod 0.8 M standard), ensure compatibility with most follow focus accessories and aperture adjustment available on the market.

Ready to work in any conditions!
With film lenses, it is extremely important that the equipment is suitable for work regardless of weather conditions. Irix Cine 15mm T2.6 has been sealed in four key places, so you can shoot in the desert and in full rain, meaning you can be sure that your equipment will remain safe.

Main features:
UltraHD 8K resolution
43.3 mm imaging field (Full Frame)

The new Tamron zoom specs are damn close to the one of the Sony 24-240mm FE!

Share

Two reliable sources told me this:

The new Tamron FE zoom lens is damn close (in terms of specs) to the current Sony 24-240mm f/3.5-6.3 OSS FE lens.

This is my speculation (I repeat speculation and not rumor):
1) The Tamron specs might be something like 28-240mm f/3.5-5.6 and has no optical stabilization (the Sony has it).  Having 4mm less at the wide end and no OSS would allow Tamron to make the lens more compact and a bit faster at the tele end. I think my speculation is probably veeery close to the real deal :)
2) Or 28-280mm f/3.5-6.3 with 40mm more at the tele ens.

Just a small update on the upcoming new Tamron FE lens:

  • specs might be something like 28-240mm f/3.5-5.6 (more or less)
  • Has a focus locking switch
  • more or less same size as the current 28-75mm lens.

CONFIRMED! Sony will soon announce the new 12-24mm f/2.8 GM lens!

Share

This Sony lens is 2mm wider than the current Sigma 14-24mm FE

Back in February I told you that Sony would launch a new 12-24mm f/2.8 GM lens this summer (read the original rumor here). And today the reliable source Nokishita confirmed that our rumors is correct and Sony will announce this lens within the next couple off weeks.
Now this is good news also because it means that the other rumors are likely to be correct too….which means:

  • There is a new High End Full Frame camera coming in June (likely to be the A7sII successor)
  • There is a new “surprise” camera model coming in June/July which seems to be a “different” camera than the current models
