DxO (Click here) posted the RX10m2 sensor test results. It beats the rest of the competition and scores a 1 single point better than it’s predecessor.

Although detractors may gripe about the lack of any real improvements in sensor performance over its predecessor, the new stacked-type back-illuminated sensor in Sony Cyber-shot RX10 II performs particularly well, given the advances from the high-speed readout. Such advances include high bit-rate 4K (UHD) recording, ”slo-mo” recording, and lowered distortion or skew effects from rolling shutter. While the design has allowed the addition of the necessary electronics, there has been no negative impact on sensor performance. In fact, the noise floor, color sensitivity and dynamic range remain more or less unchanged over its conventional back-illuminated predecessor.

Our mate Gordon Laing from CameraLabs published his final full Sony A7rII review and writes:

It all adds up to a camera that becomes the most practical and affordable way to enjoy very high resolution images and video, and as such one that easily earns my Highly Recommended rating. I’m not overly fond of modern marketing terms, but the A7r II really is a disruptive product that should have a serious number of high-end DSLR owners considering a switch when it comes to upgrading. Yes there are still a number issues, but the sheer quality, feature-set and price make it a camera that everyone at this end of the market should seriously consider. Meanwhile other companies should thank Sony for proving there’s not only a market for a truly high-end mirrorless camera, but high demand for it too.

For Gordon the A7rII is a true Game-changer!

Chad Wadsworth already tested the new version and there is on bad and one good news:
Bad news: “I’ve found that when attempting focus at the minimum focus distance (MFD) of each lens, the adapter will hunt badly and worse, slip into a contrast detection mode that will continue to hunt when focused at longer distances.”
Good news: “On the upside, the 90/2.8 is very fast to focus – as fast as my Batis 85/1.8 and is sure footed, finding focus in situations where even the Batis struggled. Truly remarkable.”
