Finally first (many) RX1 image samples! And a RX100 review.
Sony just posted fifteen new image samples taken with the new Sony RX1. You can find them all on Flickr (Click here). UPDATE: There is one 6.400 ISO sample here. At first glance all I can say is that the superb lens and sensor combination delivers a great sharpness. The noise at 6.400 is very harmonic (no fancy noise pattern). Hope we can see some full size RAW samples soon! What do you think?

8 months ago |I didn’t want this camera until I saw these photos, I would still wait for a review, and camera in hand before purchasing, but these photos are extremely impressive to me. I think the color reproduction, detail, bokeh, and noise are just gorgeous. If these photos are whats to be expected out of this premium camera, then sony you’ve really done well this time.

8 months ago |The images are great. If I can use NR software and retain that amount of sharpness as Hex alludes too than that would be great. If one cannot admit when looking at an image that it is clean and void of significant noise than your opinion loses credibility. If one said that this was out of nikon or canon camera, they would be drooling. I would buy this camera in a heartbeat if I shot this focal length and it had a built in VF. I still cannot believe this camera does not have a built in VF. I am just hopeful that the 99 will have similar results since they are using the same sensor. All I want from Sony is to not be limited by using their product. I don’t want to be at sporting event with poor light conditions shooting with my 99 and knowing the shots would look significantly better if I was using a 600 or a 5dm3. With the 99, I feel like I will not be saying that at all. Not that the 99 will be better than either of these fine cameras, but the 99 will be at least equivalent.

8 months ago |Fantastic set, some great examples of the RX1′s DR and IQ. Bokeh – as you would expect – is fantastic. This camera will be a bokeh king. After seeing the D600′s DXO score, I expect this camera to easily top the DXO list. I predict the IQ and DR will be unmatched by any FF camera.
I’m itching to hit buy, but I want to see AF performance as well. After owning the X100 for 6 months, I loved the IQ, 35mm FL and the leaf shutter – but hated the usability of the camera. It was just so slow. I think, given Sony’s recent push to improve AF performance in the Nex and A99, this will be a AF beast.
Must. Resist. Until. Tests…

8 months ago |I don’t. It’d be much bigger and probably the IQ would suffer (depends on a lens used ofq, but I doubt many lenses can resolve what this one does with tailored sensor to the lens – probably only solution to match this one would be going for Leica glass or Zeiss 35 f/1,4).
Not even saying about being much more expensive as a set.

Rendering of the lens looks very much like the Zeiss 24 (35mm equivalent) on the Nex. Of course with even less DOF…

8 months ago |I find the samples superb. It’s not the sharpness, but the dynamic range that makes all these pictures just stand out from anything I have seen so far.
I find ideal the Sony approach with maximum compactness while retaining maximum image quality. I don’t need interchangeable lenses, viewfinders and other distracting stuff when I can have the best image quality possible today from a full-frame camera, in a palm-sized package.
If I can afford this one day, I will buy it next to my RX100, even if I am just a point-and-shooter.

8 months ago |One moment…I read the words “image quality” and “high iso” and “100% view” too much. Is everybody forgetting, that making good pictures is more than only the result? To reduce a camera on its “100% high iso quality” is in the same way stupid. Sorry…but every camera from every brand can only cover a small part of photography…! Did you ever see a Tourist with an hassie on a beach? Means this nobody wants perfect photo´s?

It’s a lens that is tailored to the sensor (or maybe vice versa).
The IQ is superb, and this will probably only be comparable to the leica 35s.
Luckily I don’t want/need this (Otherwise my car purchase would again have to wait a couple months
