NEX-6 review at Engadget and SonyAlphaLab.

One of the nicest new cameras we had in 2012 is certainly the NEX-6. And the image posted by DC.watch (you see it on top) makes it look even more beautiful
They tested the NEX-6 with the great looking (and superbly manufactured) Ricoh GR 21mm f/3.5 which is such a hard to find lens that there is no even one single auction on eBay.
That said we have two new complete NEX-6 reviews at Engadget and SonyAlphaLab. And the camera gets lot of positive feedback from both reviewers. There is also a new Sony NEX-5R review at Cnet Asia.
Now let’s see what’s coming soon from the NEX front. The 85mm f/1.8 and what else?

A fast lens around 24mm that does not cost 1000$ would be nice. Even better if it would be a pencake.

6 months ago |With NEX-6 and no touch screen, anyone knows how one can set the focus on a given part of the picture?
I like being able to touch the screen to choose area of focus. Possible with NEX-6 somehow?

6 months ago |Just like on NEX-3/5/C3/F3/7
Menu>Camera>Autofocus Are>Flexible Spot. You can make a shortcut for that function.

6 months ago |The NEX 6 is undoubtly a great camera… not far from perfect for many potential users. The point with NEX-6 is the lens that go with it: the new 16-50PZ is very attractive because very compact (this can help many point and shot user to move to more serious hybrid camera -as NEX6-), but the image quality of this lens (the most important) seams a bit disapointing (strong corner softness at wide focal lengh and apertune), that is not so surprising… even with a “very average” image quality, making an APS-C zoom so compact is a strong technological chalenge won by Sony!

6 months ago |Was nikon lover ( and I’m still) but my D300s became too heavy for my bad bag ( 2 hernia’s in 2 year) Now Sony nex 6 it is great. But the JPG are in my browser (nikon view nx2) only visible as thumbnails. Nikon sayd it is caused by Sony. Who can help me? After conversion they became normal.

6 months ago |I dont have an NEX-6. I have an NEX-7. I’ve stopped buying E-mount lenses for two reasons: one is that they are not full frame and thus not future proofed or a good investment and TWO is that u cannot use MF assist with them. If you activate MF assist then you get a 7x view any time you touch the focus ring which is INCREDIBLY ANNOYING.
I just use old manual lenses and with a much better effect.

6 months ago |so i ask… does the NEX-6 fix this MF assist problem?
rod90
6 months ago |@gojiguy : turn of MF assist and only turn on focus peaking. That will solve your problem. I too have an Nex7.
What’s really broken is DMF unlike the RX100 when using DMF on NEX you must half press the shutter in order to focus manually when grabbing the ring. The RX100 allows you to manual focus without half-pressing the shutter. simply grab the focus ring anytime while its in DMF. Why this hasn’t been patched yet is a mystery when really its just a few lines of code to activate manual focus when the focus ring is moved. this introduces 2 extra functions of half-pressing the shutter. 1st step is if the half-press lasts less than 0.5 seconds the regular autofocus won’t kick in. But if the half-press is lasts longer than 0.5 seconds then the camera will autofocus on its own.

6 months ago |but… turning off MF Assist means that I cant use the MF assist button to use precise manual focusing when I need it… I’d have to dive into some menus, flick it back on, and then use the MF assist button…
