Atomos Shogun 4K recorder to ship on December 1 (new hands-on videos)

ATOMOS SHOGUN – EXTRA ep. 11

At last the new Atomos Shogun will start shipping on December 1 according to BHphoto (Click here). And it will ship about the same time at Adorama (Click here) too. You will need this to record 4K video with your Sony A7s. On top you can see a video made by Adorama to introduce that combo.
Another good news is that Atomos confirmed 4K Raw recording with the Sony FS700 (More about it here at Newsshooter). Newsshooter also made a first test of the Atomos on a Nikon DSLR.

And do not forget there is also an Atomos Sony A7/r/s compatible power station you can preorder at BHphoto (Click here).

Christian:I think I can say I’m the one dedicated to macro photography. I’ve always been a Sony user, my current camera is a NEX5-T, waiting to upgrade to the A7 successor. I think the NEX5-T is a very handy camera, perfect for macro work, even if I have to use extension tubes as we don’t have Sony macro lenses yet, until the 100mm f/2.8 is available:

Eddy: “Something that might be of interest to your readers: DxO recently launched a new version of DxO Optics, with a new function called ‘ClearView’, which is intended to get rid of ‘haze’ in landscapes. I’ve been using it a number of times, both on older and recent shots and it really does a nice job. As you know the A7R already has a really good dynamic range, but what DxO ClearView can do with it, in just one click, it’s amazing. Brand new pictures from the A7m2 (with grip and lenses). And some new info.

These are the very first real extensive hands-on pictures and reports coming from Sonyshop-satouchi, Biglobo and Yagumo-Camera. You can see many new details on these pictures like the different battery and connection slot (Click on them to see the larger version). The sites also do report a lot of other details:

– The A7mII feels really good in hand. Shutter button is easy to touch now and it’s easier to hold lenses due the larger grip
– A7m2 has not “4D focus” as the a6000 because the number of AF points doesn’t meet the required standard
– AF speeds is as fast as the A6000 anyway
– Sony again repeats the 5 axis stabilization has been developed by Sony and is not taken from Olympus

Reminder: Win one of the new Camslinger Cosyspeed Bags!

RX10 CS 160 PG

a Rafflecopter giveaway

Hi, this is Thomas from COSYSPEED.

It’s super cool that we can have one of our new CAMSLINGER models as a giveaway for your readers! I’m sure many of them would like this new concept of carrying a mirrorless camera (or Superzooms or smaller DSLRs aswell) on the hip or as a sling bag. It’s not a solution to transport large amounts of gear as the bags are on the smaller side, but for daily live when out shooting with smaller gear it will be a very quick and good solution.

Keep on going with your great blog and many thanks, Thomas

The two A-mount news: new lenses coming. E and A mount cameras getting closer.

sony_20141120_012

There are also two A-mount news to report after yesterdays big Sony event:

1) Sony finally shows there is a future for A-mount
By openly disclosing the two new A-mount lens releases for 2015 Sony brought back some confidence in the A-mount system. Finally after many words from managers we also got some…facts.

2) A-mount and E-mount differences  fading out:
The A6000 already started to get one step closer to PRO DSLR autofocusing performance. The one major advantage of A-mount over E-mount left was in body stabilization. But now that advantage is gone.

I am wondering how Sony wants to promote the A-mount system. It will be harder for Sony to justify the existence of an A-mount system unless Sony does “invent” something that cannot be done on E-mount (like Z-shift or other crazy features).
