French Retailer Registers “α7 series body 1” and “α7 series body 2” and HVL-F28RM Flash

As you know, Sony has officially launched this teaser image for a new camera announcement on September 15. They say it’s a “new concept” and we know this is for the Sony A7c compact camera. Now Nokishita spotted this:

Sony’s new products scheduled to start reservations next week that are currently registered at retailers in France are “α7 series body 1” “α7 series body 2” “α7 series kit 1” “α7 series kit 2” “E mount lens” ” 6 products of “flash for camera”. 1 and 2 are probably color variations. The flash seems to be HVL-F28RM

Like we told you before the A7c will come in Black and Silver version. The Silver version is actually Silver only on the top 1cm of the camera.

Nikkei report: “The Vlogcam Sony ZV-1 received twice as many advance orders in Japan as expected”

As you can see from the graph on top the Sony electronics division’s presence in the wider corporate group has diminished due to the sharp ascent of others such as video games, music and semiconductors.

Nikkei Asia posted an article about the future of Sony’s electronics business and this is the future we can expect:

  • Electronic business could soon be relegated to the role of supporting movies, music and other operations.
  • The Vlogcam ZV-1 received twice as many advance orders in Japan as expected, a Sony official said. But a single hit product is hardly enough to lead Sony’s overall growth. The reality is that the electronics segment at present lacks a product with the kind of huge impact the Walkman had.
  • Sony still sees potential for its electronics business. “The electronics business is still the core of our technology and brand,” Ishizuka said.

Sony press event on September 8. Unsure if it’s for the A7c too…

On September 8 Sony will have a livestream event to announce a lot of new TV’s, projectors and other 4K gear. In theory this doesn’t sound like an event for a possible Sony A7c announcement. But there will be also a new Xperia 5II (I leaked the teaser video here). So there might be small chance to get the A7c too which is going to be marketed for vloggers and youtubers.

Sources knowing the exact Sony A7c announcement date are welcome to drop me the info using the contact box and their “nickname” so that I know it’s a legit info. Thanks!
