Lensmate launches new thumb grip for the Sony A6300

lensmate

Lensmate just released their new A6300 Thumb Grip which you can now buy at Amazon US (Click here).

Description:

  • We designed the Lensmate Sony a6300 Folding Thumbrest to allow easy access to all of the buttons, and to quickly get out of the way when you need to get to the top dials. A light push with the thumb swings the rest 40° out from the camera and a light action ball detent keeps the Thumbrest in the opened or closed position. Weight 9 grams or 1/3 of an ounce. Available in black.
  • The sculpted thumbrest relaxes your grip on the camera, reduces camera shake and allows slower shutter speeds. Makes one handed operation easier and prevents unintentional button presses.
  • Camera specific design retains access to all controls and does not effect operation of built in flash or articulated LCD screen.
  • Integrated silicone insert provides both thumb grip and bumper between the rest and camera body and the silicone insert in the hot shoe tab provides resistance to unintentional ejection. Machined out of solid 6061 Aluminum rod, then bead blasted for texture and anodized for a tough finish.
  • We suggest using the Lolumina Mini stick on soft release button with the Lensmate a6300 Thumbrest for a more relaxed and ergonomic index finger position (with the finger draped over the button, usually not using the finger tip). See our other listings.

One more thing the A6000 also got a Silver version of the Lensmate Thimb Grip (Click here).

Drasko: In my latest review i´m taking a look at the Sony Sky HDR App which you can get for 10€ in the Sony Appstore and use on your sony cameras like the A7II, A7rII, A6300… but is it really worth it? Get some coffee and Donuts and have a look! http://www.dsphotoblog.com/?p=1118

Mario:This week I have released a new film called “Senna vs Brundle.” The film looks at the young Ayrton Senna who later became a triple world champion in Formula 1 and one of the most iconic sportsmen. It is set around the British Formula 3 season in 1983 in which Ayrton and Martin Brundle had a fearsome fight for the title. That season made Ayrton the man we later saw in Formula 1 and also propelled Martin directly into Formula 1 with the iconic Tyrell team. https://vimeo.com/ondemand/svsb
The interesting thing for you is that the 14 interviews the film contains and the contemporary footage of the racing car were filmed on 2 Sony A7s, later also an A7rII and 55mm 1.4 lenses. Recording was in 4k ProResHQ on an Atomos Shogun. You can see some pictures at senna-vs-brundle.com in the ‘making of’ section. He film is very popular with the racing community and has been a major topic on twitter in the last days.

Andreas:Recently I bought a Sony A7II as second camera (with fullframe sensor) as a supplement to my A77II (with APS-C sensor) which I use a lot for equestrian sports photography.
With my A77II I’m used to have a perfectly fast and accurate AF and I was wondering how the new A7II would behave in this discipline…

Therefore I made a AF tracking test using the same Sony 70-400m G SSM II lens (using the LA-EA3 adapter on the A7II) on both camera bodies.

The test consisted of photo series from approaching cars in Continuous Shooting Mode (with AF in continuous mode).
Cars where first tracked (with release button pressed halfway) and the shutter was released when the cars reached a specific point (the pedestrian crossing)
I used same settings on both cameras and a focal length of 200mm on the A77II vs 300mm on the A7II (to compensate the different sensor size)

3 series were shot for each test scenario in order to have more consistent results:

A77II (with latest Firmware 2.0)
3 series with sports program (12fps), Continuous AF, AF field: expandable flexible spot (on center)
3 series in High mode (8fps), Continuous AF, AF field: expandable flexible spot (on center)
3 series in Low mode (4fps), Continuous AF, AF field: expandable flexible spot (on center)

A7II (with latest Firmware 3.1)
3 series in High mode (5fps), Continuous AF, AF Feld: field (on center)
3 series in Low mode (mit 2.5fps), Continuous AF, AF Feld: field (on center)
3 series in High mode (5fps), Continuous AF, AF Feld: flexible spot (on center)

Officially announced: Samyang autofocus (!) 50mm f/1.4 and 14mm f/2.8 FE lenses!!!

SamyangFE

It is now official! In a surprising move Samyang announced that it will make two new FE autofocus lenses! Those are the first autofocus lenses ever made by the company:
– 14mm F2.8 ED AS IF UMC Full Frame E-mount
– 50mm F1.4 AS IF UMC Full Frame E-mount

The two new lenses will ship end of June with a price that still has to be determined. But knowing Samyang these will be surely cheaper than current Sony-Zeiss FE lenses. This is a size comparison between the Zeiss 55mm f/1.8 FE, the new Samyang 50mm f/1.4 FE and the new Sony 50mm f/1.8 FE:

May 3rd, 2016, Seoul, Korea – The global optics brand, Samyang Optics (http://www.samyanglensglobal.com) today announced the long-awaited launch of two autofocus lenses: 14mm F2.8 and 50mm F1.4 lenses for Sony E mount Mirrorless cameras with full frame sensor size. The new 14mm and 50mm are the widest and brightest lenses in their classand offer superb quality images to photographers. This launching expands the boundaries of Samyang Optics photo lens line-up from manual focus only, to now include autofocus lenses.

Optimised Optical Design as Full Frame Mirrorless Camera Lens
Both 14mm F2.8 ED AS IF UMC and 50mm F1.4 AS IF UMC are specifically designed to work in harmony with full frame mirrorless cameras in Sony E mount. The flow of light is devised based on the uniqueness of the distance from glass to sensor in mirrorless cameras to create optimal performance. Along with portability of mirrorless lenses, the 14mm F2.8 and 50mm F1.4 are compatible with full frame sensors to deliver the wideness and sharpnessof image to photographers.

The 67mm filter diameter brings the maximum amount of light into the lens to create the best work of light in photography. The 14mm F2.8 is the widest angle available in the market and the F1.4 of 50mm and F2.8 of 14mm apertures are by far the brightest of full frame mirrorless lenses, offeringa beautiful bokeh effect and the best quality images under various exposure conditions.

Based on Samyang Optics’ exceptional optical technology, aspherical lenses have been included in both lenses to minimise aberration and unnecessary light dispersion, delivering high resolution from the centre to the corners of the image.

AF Performance and Ergonomic Design Based on Class-Leading Technology
These new products will be the first autofocus lenses in over 40 years of Samyang’s class-leading core optics technologies.Samyang has captured the essence of world leading image technology with their manual focus lenses and reinterpreted it into autofocus lenses. Photographers now can enjoy the prime manual lens image quality and autofocus lens. These new 14mm F2.8 and 50mm F1.4 are compatible with both phase detect and contrast detect sensors to operate fast and accurate focus detection.

The 67mm filter diameter is also the result of years of R&D for best handling, by adding stability to the photo-taking experience. Also the minimal and sleek design and metal-housing solidify the build quality with the internal focus system.

These two new autofocus lenses from Samyang Optics will be exhibited at the Photo & Imaging 2016Show in Seoul, South Korea. The lenses will be globally available from July 2016. Further details, pricing and availability will follow.

More information will be released soon onSamyang Optics official website (http://www.samyanglensglobal.com), Facebook page (http://www.facebook.com/samyanglensglobal) andInstagram (http://www.instagram.com /samyanglensglobal).
