Ted Forbes: “Why Sony is absolutely KILLING it right now” and why it will be hard for Canon and Nikon to match them…

In this new video from tech guru (and certainly no Sony fanboy) Ted Forbes he explains why Sony is currently killing it. He explains that Sony’s advantage is more than just about sensor:

For example Nikon and Canon will have to launch a complete new series of lenses with new linear motors to really take advantage of the autofocus speed from the mirrorless system. not something that can happen in a very short time.

Moreover Sony is leading the sensor tech and Canon and Nikon certainly cannot beat them in any way right now.

Canon 50mm f0.75 XI Lens Review

Aye, you read that correctly, f0.75. The Canon 50mm f0.75 XI is a rare, super-fast lens that was designed for use with X-Ray machines. There’s very little information available about the lens online other than that, and even fewer example images. I spotted one up for sale on eBay a while ago, and decided to take the chance to see if I could do anything with it. It’s not every day you get the opportunity to shoot with one of the fastest lenses ever made, after all.

Here it is, in all of it’s glory. It has a pretty beautiful purple sheen to it in the light, which I presume is from a coating.

Sony A7 vs Nikon Z size comparison…and Canon FF mirrorless is coming too…

Ethan sent me this size comparison between the Sony A7 and Nikon Z Full Frame mirrorless. Ethan matched up the hotshoes to give us close comparison. I don’t think it’s 100% accurate. The mount really looks huge compared to the E-mount.

If you have made an accurate comparison please post it on the comment section below.

And by the way, a Canon Full Frame mirrorless is rumored to be announced the second week of September according to CanonWatch! This is going to be a busy time. We all have to hope Nikon (August 23 announcement) and Canon will make great cameras to push Sony’s marketing department to release some new exciting cameras…like a new A9r :)

50mm size comparison between the new Sigma, Zeiss and Sony

via CameraSize

The new Sigma 50mm ART FE lens is just slightly longer than the Zeiss. The Zeiss is a bit thicker and a bit lighter. Of course in terms of lightness the Sony 1.8 beats everything by far. Dind’t include the Samyang 50mm as it isn’t listed on the CameraSize database.
