(SR4) Some additional info about the new High End APS-C Sony camera. Will be announced with a new APS-C lens and the 135mm GM?

This info is from a trusted source that was correct many times and wrong one single time. So I would say it’s 70% accurate for now. He writes:

Name is unknown
Completely new design.
EVF is located on the optical axis as same as α7
blackoutfree
20fps
improved ergonomics

This camera is rumored to be annnounced soon along a new APS-C lens and the 135mmGM.

Another source said that the 135mm GM will be on market by 2019. So I don’t know if the lens will be announced now at the PhotoPlus show or sometimes in early 2019.

That said we have yet NO reliable confirmation confirming that the new High End APS-C camera will be announced at PhotoPlus. Hope to get some more info the upcoming days…

(SR3) Unconfirmed rumors about a Sony announcement around October 16

From trusted sources we know there is still one major announcement coming soon. Today one good source told me that he got unofficial rumors about a Sony event on or around October 16. Still, I rate this rumor with 50% reliability for now because I will need further confirmation.

What’s going to be announced?
1) I am 90% sure there is a High End APS-C camera model on the way. With EVF in the middle and features to match or even beat the performance of the new and excellent Fuji X-T3. But not sure if it’s coming on Oct 16 or later.
2) I am also 90% sure there will be new E-mount lenses

What’s NOT going to be announced is a new A7sIII.

UPDATED: Warning…those Sony A7000 specs are fake!

UPDATE: Trusted sources told us this screenshot showing the A7000 specs and that’s going around the web is FAKE.

From trusted sources we know a new High End APS-C camera and new lenses (plural!) will be announced soon. The High End Camera should have an EVF in the center just like the current A7-A9 Full Frame cameras. Stay tuned on SAR because there is surely some exciting news and rumors to come the next days!

(SR5) Sony will soon announce a new High End APS-C camera with EVF in the middle (like the A7 series)

Image on top is just a mockup I made that should give you the idea of how this could look

Two reliable sources confirmed that Sony is ready to launch a new High End APS-C E-mount Camera. And both told me this: The new camera will have the EVF in the middle just like the current A7-A9 Full Frame cameras.

I have no 100% confirmed specs yet but I have been told this is a sort of mini-A9. My hope is that it will match or even beat the performance of the new and excellent Fuji X-T3. After all the X-T3 uses a Sony sensor (read more at Fujirumors).

It’s still unconfirmed when Sony will announce this camera but I have been told it’s coming VERY SOON. Sony is known to make product announcements in October prior the big Photo Plus show. I also should get some specs soon. Stay tuned on SAR…it is going to be an exciting October :)

One more thing: There will be new lenses too!!!!!!!!!!!!

UPDATE: I actually forgot to mention that we already had an E-mount camera with the EVF in the middle and that’s the Sony A3000 (here on Amazon)

Sony says it will take time to see the A7sIII but it will go beyond the customers expectations!

Cinema5D interviewed Sony Senior Manager Yutaka Iwatsuki. And there are two important take aways about the future Sony A7sIII:

1) Mr. Yutaka said that “for time frame, it may require longer than you probably imagine”
2) This long waiting time is necessary because Sony wants to “go beyond the customers expectations”
3) 8K is not important by 2020 …but in the longer term it will be important
4) There are still a lot of things to do with Full Frame and APS-C before to think about moving Medium Format

Very interesting! This also underlines once more that the next camera Sony will announce will be the new High End APS-C camera model. It also makes sense for Sony to not hurry because the Panasonic S1-S1R camera with 4k60 will be on market by March only.

What’s your opinion on what Sony said in this interview?
