Follow the Sony IFA keynote livestream on August 31 at 1pm Berlin time. Some FS5 news to be announced?

Sony UK just confirmed they will livestream the 31 August IFA press event at 1pm Berlin time. So far we do not expect any new E-mount camera to be announced on that day.  The next camera to be announced in September-October will be a new RX compact.

But there may be some FS5 camcorder related news. Dennis just tweeted this:

(SR4) Action camera, Cine Alta Camera and likely a new RX camera to be announced next!

As you know Sony has recently registered two new cameras:

  1. One camera has the code “WW620081”. That camera got already registered two months ago. The “WW6” code is usually used for RX cameras
  2. The second code is “WW173777”. That kind of code is used for compact fixed lens cameras (non-RX)

Well I had a chat woth two trusted sources and those are the news we can expect in the upcoming weeks:

1) Sony should announce a new action camera (info here)
2) On September 6 Sony will announce the new FF Cine Alta camera (info here)
3) And sony will also announce a new RX camera!

Do not expect any new E-mount camera within the next 1-2 months. But we will get new E-mount lenses soon! 400mm FE, 135mm FE….

Opteka will soon release a new 6.5mm f/2.0 APS-C E-mount lens

This is the first image of the Opteka 6.5mm f/2.0 APS-C E-mount lens. It’s full name is Opteka 6.5mm f/2 HD Multi-Coated Circular Fisheye Lens.

Features:
6 elements in 5 groups
9 aperture blades
1.9” (0.05m) minimum focus distance

Reminder: Opteka already sells some E-mount lenses on Amazon and Amazon.de. But those lenses are designed for DSLR and modified for Sony E-mount. The new lenses are directly designed for mirrorless system cameras.

Sony will launch the new CineAlta full frame 36x24mm camera on September 6

Sony invited filmmakers on a big press event on September 6. They will finally unveil the new CineAta Full Frame cinema camera. The specswe know so far are:

Full Frame 36x24mm sensor exclusively designed for this Digital Motion Picture Camera
– Aspect ratio-agnostic – including Full Frame, Super35 4K 4-perf 4:3 Anamorphic and 4K spherical 3-perf 17:9
– New image sensor enabling exceptional picture quality
– Maintains the workflow established with Sony’s 16bit RAW/X-OCN and XAVC
– Compatible with current and upcoming hardware accessories for CineAlta cameras (DVF-EL200 Full HD OLED Viewfinder, AXS-R7 recorder, AXS-CR1 and AR1 card reader, AXS and SxS memory cards).

This thing will be very cool and expensive!

Thanks Reda for this!

What’s up next from Zeiss, Samyang, Tokina and Sigma…

Sony is rumored to launch at least a new 135mm and a 400mm FE lens. And maybe (unconfirmed!) a new 16mm f/1.4 APS-C E-mount lens too. But also four more companies are rumored to launch new E-mount lenses:

Tokina will release two Firin lenses (Super Wide and a fast wide FE autofocus lens) by end 2017.
Samyang will release one or two wide angle autofocus FE lenses in 2017 (article here).
Zeiss next FE lenses may be announced by end of this year.
Sigma will launch their first FE lenses by very end of this year (35mm f/1.4 FE and a FE zooms some times later)

Nice :)
