Update on the Venus Tilt Shift rumor: I’ts and adapter and not a lens!

Image of the Laowa 12mm lens which will be available shortly for both A and E-mount folks.

I got an important info about the rumored new TIlt Shift lens from Venus Optics. I have been told this is not a “lens” but a “Tilt Shift adapter” you can fit on the A or E-mount Laowa 12mm f/2.8 lens. The 12mm lens and the adapter project will be launched on Kickstarter soon.

UPDATE: An anonymous source (thanks!) sent me more info: “The Laowa 12/2.8 will be transformed into an E-mount 17mm F4 tilt-shift lens, with equivalent 10mm coverage, and the IQ will suffer very little as it is a specialized converter“.

Note: Just for comparison: The [shoplink 49141 ebay]Canon TS-E lenses[/shoplink] are quite expensive. But I expect the Venus adapter to be priced lower than those. Here is a video showing how the Canon TS-E lenses do work:

Sony RX10III review by Dpreview: “best all-around bridge camera on the market”

sony_rx10_iii_7

Dpreview posted the full RX10III review:

“Compared to its peers, the RX10 III is the best all-around bridge camera on the market. The 1″-type stacked CMOS sensor offers the same (that is, very good) performance as its predecessor, while the new lens reaches from a wide angle of 24mm all the way to 600mm without any real optical compromises. The high-quality video continues to be a big draw, and barring some ongoing UI and customization concerns, ergonomic updates have made the camera more comfortable to use in the real world.”

P.S.: Apple reelased the digital Camera RAW Compatibility Update 6.20 which adds support for the RX0III

(SR5) Venus Optics will make the first E-mount Tilt Shift adapter lens!

venus

UPDATE: it’s a TS adapter and not a TS lens as previously stated. Thanks source for clarifying this!

We all know Venus Optics for their really great Laowa 105mm STF E-mount lens. Well their next producst will be definitely a first in the E-mount range because it will be a Tilt Shift adapter lens! I have no details about pricing and specs yet.

Just for comparison: The [shoplink 49141 ebay]Canon TS-E lenses[/shoplink] are quite expensive. But I expect the Venus adapter to be priced lower than those. Here is a video showing how the Canon TS-E lenses do work:

Hasselblad 90mm F/3.2 XCD Lens for XD1 at BHphoto, Adorama and Calumet.de.
Hasselblad 45mm F/3.5 XCD Lens for XD1 at BHphoto, Adorama and Calumet.de.

Our reader ECB and Mark (Thanks!) did just send us the images of the new Hasselblad X1D mirrorless system camera. It’s the first digital medium format camera with Sony sensor inside! It’s named “X1D-50c” because it uses the 50MP Sony 44×33 medium format sensor. And those are the first lenses:

For a short moment Hasselblad itself published the X1D medium format system camera info on their website. Google cache (Click here) still has the image gallery cached :)

Less than 24 hours left for the Hasselblad medium format mirrorless camera announcement….

Less than 24 hours left for the big Hasselblad announcement. You can follow the live videostream live tomorrow (June 22) at 14:00 Stockholm time. Why should we care about it?

  1. It’s likely to be the world’s first digital mirrorless (system?) medium format camera.
  2. It’s likely to feature the Sony 50MP medium format sensor.
  3. There is chance Sony is somehow involved in this. Sony may share their tech to Hasselblad.
  4. And…now I am dreaming…if Hasselblad is successful Sony could one day join the new system with their Sony branded cameras and lenses.

So let’s watch that new “thing” tomorrow :)

(SR4) Sony is currently prototypeing Image Sensors based on “black silicon”.

bsensor2

A source sent me that following info:

Sony is currently prototypeing Image Sensors based on SiOnyx  or better known as “black silicon”. Basically it uses a porous silicon etch on the front side to reduce reflectance. However, while this works well in reducing the visible light reflectance of bare silicon wafers with no backside layers or materials from 46 % to a few %. For image sensors a sensitivity invrease of 30% is estimated”

Thanks source for this!
