Tomorrow (January 5th at 5pm PST) Sony will stream a live video presentation from the CES show. But as reported previously it’s highly likely that Sony’s new A99x and A6100 system camera will be introduced after the CES show at or right before the CP+ photo show in late February. The CES show is more “mass consumer oriented” and as I leaked previously there will be new actioncameras, handycams and maybe some compact cameras only.

Our “SonyNinja” source (cool name!) already visited the Sony CES booth and reported this:

“At CES in the booth past few days. No new big cameras, but new line of TVs and heavy focus on HDRaudio and “lifestyle.” PlayStation VR has a big presence this year along with lots of interactive elements around the booth…”

It may be that like it happened with the A7sII Sony takes out a system camera out of nowhere to avoid any leak. But just to keep your foots on ground don’t expect yet anything granted for tomorrow.

But the good news is that the same sources who were right on the Batis and RX1rII rumors also told us the A99 successor and A6100 are finally coming as next (shipment within March).

P.S.: Virtual Reality seems to be the big thing this year at CES!

The last 48 hours I got two messages from a trusted and a new anonymous source:

1. Trusted source: He confirmed the new camera will be named “A6100” and it will ship in March. He said latest he heard from his Sony source was that it uses a new 36 megapixel sensor. He said he will try to confirm the sensor resolution info soon.
2. New source: Also that source said the new camera is named A6100 and it will feature a 36 megapixel BSI sensor.

To sum up:
SR5: Three trusted and one anonymous source now confirmed the A6xxx is shipping in March
SR3: Has new 36 megapixel sensor.

It’s unclear if the camera will be announced on Tuesday Jan 5 at the Sony press event (follow live her eon SAR at 5pm Pacific time). Keep in mind the Cp+ photo show event is taking place by end of February…

One more thing: A source told me the A6xxx replacement camera got delayed twice last year simply because there was no “serious” competition. Sony had it ready for launch but at the end decided to launch it in early 2016 only.

A source (Thanks!) sent me that info that I still have to double-check with other sources. He told me that:

Sony will announce at least two new lenses designed for APS together with the A6100.
One is a average 16-50mm f3.5-5  zoom.
the other is a 16-200mm f4.0-6 super zoom.
Both lenses lack in lens stabilisation

Finally some non super expensive APS-C E-mount lenses for the A5/6000 camera owners?

Pardon my language: But the Sony A6xxx is my pain in the ass rumor of 2015 :)  The camera announcement got delayed twice:
First delay in Spring (Fact proven by the famous Wikileaks roadmap where the A6xxx was listed for a Sprin announcement – article here).
Second delay in Autumn (the same source who gave me the correct Sonys EU online store closure info told me afterwards the A6xxx release got delayed again).

But finally a couple of major store owners told me that Sony officially reported them the new A6xxx camera will ship in March! This means their A6000 Stock will get cleared. So in summary this is what to expect to be announced between January (CES) and February (CP+):

SR5: A99 successor (no specs known yet)
SR5: A6000 successor (no specs known yet)
SR5: New FE lens roadmap (probably at CP+)
SR4: New 24-70mm f/2.8 lens
SR4: New fast prime lens (probably 85mm f/1.4)

A saw that readers spotted a Russian Store (Fotosklad.ru) listing the Sony A7000. Those specs are likely to not be true. So don’t take it too seriously.

All I heard os far about the new High End APS-C E-mount camera is that it will ship in February-March.

As you know on January 5 Sony will have a livestreaming to announce new products. I am trying to figure out what’s coming but so far I only heard about new smartphones, camcorders and actioncameras.

Actioncameras are the most sold kind of cameras and therefore very important for Sony. We Alpha users probably couldn’t care less…But some of the new actioncamera tech may will find his way in Alpha or RX cameras too.

So far I have been told there will be two new actioncameras: AS50 and FDRX2000.

I got this  from an anonymous source about the FDRX2000:

It will be the best action cam on the market. The improvements are mainly a better sensor with improved frame rates and low light capabilities

And those AS50 specs and image from a trusted source:

-Same as usually Zeiss lens
-XAVC-S 50mbps codec
-FullHd recording 60p
-New menu with icons (much easier and faster to navigiate)
-Waterproof up to 60m with included case
-Batery compartement is similar to the one in az1, but as50 works with same battery as as20
-Bluetooth (to power on camera with the remote)
-Electronic zoom
-There will be new remote rm-lvr3 but will not be sold with as50 and will be released later in 2016

So what can we hope to get in 2016 by Sony?

Here is the possible list of cameras:
A6000 successor (95% chance to get this for real)
High End Sony A9 camera (75% chance to get this for real)
A99 successor (75% chance to get this for real)
A5100 successor (60% chance to get this for real)
RX100IV successor (60% chance to get this for real)

Here is the possible list of lenses:
Wide angle Zeiss Batis (99% chance to get this for real)
FE telephoto zoom lens (95% chance to get this for real)
Loxia tele lens (80% chance to get this for real)
FE 24-70mm f/2.8 (80% chance to get this for real)
FE 85mm f/1.4 (80% chance to get this for real)
FE 50mm f/1.4 (60% chance to get this for real)

Of course there will be also some stuff we have no clue about yet. Let’s hope Sony will surprise us all!
