(SR3) UPDATED: Sony working on a new RX1-X.

RX1

UPDATED: A trusted source said he “heard” from Sony that they are “working” on a new RX1-X camera. He has no specs to share yet and also didn’t get an announcement timeframe. It’s yet unclear if Sony will launch the RX1-X or/and the RX100m4 on the Sony World Photo Award event on April 23.

Speculation:
This could be the first Sony FF camera featuring the new curved sensor. Sony Patents already disclosed that camera featuring a fixed 35mm f/1.8 lens. The “X” in the name could stay for the High Resolution sensor (48-50MP?). But maybe I am going to far with my dreams and the curved FF sensor is not ready yet for mass production…

That said the RX series always has been on the front of the innovation. So let’s hope Sony will indeed show us some kind of new tech with that camera!

When a FAKE becomes so strong that it’s hard to make it go away.

fake-amount

I want to make it 100% clear again that the A-mount strategy image posted by a commenter on SAR is 100% FAKE. And when I say 100% I mean I have proof and know for certain without any single doubt that it’s fake. I tracked back the author of the comment and he has a long history of publishing false information for fun on SAR comment system. So there is no doubt he made it up to create some buzz.

While I quickly removed the image from the comment system other sites like Petapixel, Photorumors, Cameraegg and so on picked up that image from the comment system without to question the validity of the “leak” taken from an anonymous(!) comment. I want to stress again that I did NOT(!) post the image as a valid “rumor” inside my own article. I contacted those sites and asked them to remove or mark the image as fake.

The issue still is that the image spread all over the web. And as I learned from my class in mass communication once an information has been spread out and magnified it becomes truth for many even if you try to dismantle it.

I ask all SAR readers who see the image posted on other sites and forums to make it clear this is a fake. If you want link back to this post if someone is interest to read the story of that fake image.

To all A-mount owners:
Sony will launch new A-mount lenses and cameras in future. I am 100% sure of that :)

Very important Wikileaks update info! Roadmap is 100% true. A-mount document image is 100% fake.

In the comment system of SAR someone made a bit of fun and posted a FAKE image of an FAKE Sony document saying that A-mount would be discontinued in July. I want to stress that there is no such document on Wikileaks. This has been made up by that commenter! Dear A-mount followers don’t worry. That was really a bad joke by an anonymous poster :)

Some of you said, well, why on the contrary the roadmap should be true. Because it can be found as an attachment on one of the email of Wikileas-Sony. So this is 100% real :)

Please spread that info on forums and other sites. I saw that plenty of people picked up the news!

UPDATE: I removed the direct link to the email for privacy reason. Just trust me on this that the roadmap can be found there :)

UPDATE_2: A couple of reasons why I know this image is fake:
– the original author said would send me the mail with the file and he didn’t
– the original author posted a link to wikileaks that leads to a blank page
– th original author posted other fake info on SAR comments system
– the original author commented his own leak comment with multiple fake names to increase the attention ont he discussion
– there is no such document that can be found on wikileaks and I spent 7 hours to check all the files :)

(SR5) Wikileaks Sony document do confirm: New A7rII, New A6000 and a new RX camera coming!

calendar

It’s SR5, just got that proof (Thanks P:L) that a new A7 series camera a new A6000 series camera and a new RX camera are going to be announced between now and end of May. The image on top is the official Sony Product launch Calendar til June 2015 leaked by Wikileaks. Of course there may be small changes because of uncalculated events (for example A6000 successor overheating issue). The bad news is that there is no A-mount stuff on that list. This means on April 23 Sony will announce new RX stuff and in early-mid May the new A7rII and the new A6000II.

This is now SR5 which means there is now a 90%+ chance I am right on that rumor! P.S.: Glad to hear that my A7rII, A6xxx and RX rumors were correct :)

Important UPDATE: A reader posted that image of a document saying the A99II and A58 would be discontinued in July. I just wanted to add that no such document is available in Wikileaks. I asked the commenter who posted the image to send me the file. he said he would be he didn’t. I believe that guy just wanted to fool our readers in the comment system!
