Sony Australia will not sell any A-mount camera/lens anymore.

Today I reported how Sony will announce a new A-mount camera in early November. But that new camera will certainly not go on sale in Australia and New Zealand because Sony Oceania decided to not sell any A-mount camera and lenses anymore.

Sony’s strategy is to sell A-mount only in areas where it sells well and where mirrorless is having a hard time to eat the DSLR market share.

Here is the official news reported by SAR reader John on Twitter:

New Pentax FF camera will use Sony’s 36MP sensor and 5 axis stabilization!

Pentax-full-frame-DSLR-camera-specifications (1)

The Pentax FF DSLR camera details just got leaked. The camera will be released in Spring 2016 and all the specs shown on the image make me think that this is the A-mount FF camera I would like to get from Sony!

The Pentax FF has:
– Sony 36MP sensor
– 5 axis stabilization system (Sony tech?)
– Super resolution mode (Like the [shoplink 41530 ebay]E-M5II[/shoplink])

That would have been a terrific A-mount camera don’t you think?

Of you have plenty of money to spend and want the best of the best than watch the Zeiss Otus 28mm f/1.4 announcement on SAR at around 11am Berlin time. That lens will be big, gorgeous and expensive! UPDATE: Now announced! Full details can be read here.

A couple of hours later I will cover the A7sII reviews and image samples that are being posted by reviewers today!

Sony A7sII press conference tomorrow at around 15:00 London time.

FE_roadmap

Tomorrow Sony will have a press conference in a few countries. The official invitation sent to bloggers says this is for a “Sony A7sII” touch and try event. And reviewers and bloggers will then be allowed to publish A7sII reviews and image samples. But I have been told major Japan managers will be present at the event and I don’t know if they make all the big fuzz to show the new A7sII only.

For sure Sony will announce new FE lenses before the PhotoPlus show. But I don’t know if that’s going to happen tomorrow or next week.

In summary: Tomorrow at 10:00 London time Zeiss will announce the new Otus 28mm f/1.4 lens. And we will see for sure first Sony A7sII reviews and image samples. But there is a small chance to get some FE lens news too.

Mystery solved: Zeiss photographer and the 85mm f/1.2 G SSM II lens.

[shoplink 41346 ebay]85mm_12_G_SSM_II[/shoplink]

Zeiss just posted a set of new pictures and one of those pictures seems to have been taken with a new 85mm f/1.2 G SSM II lens. UPDATE: The mystery is solved! The [shoplink 41374 ebay]Metabones adapter[/shoplink] is “faking” the EXIF data of the [shoplink 41344 ebay]Canon 85mm f/1.2 lens[/shoplink] and makes it appear as an SSM II lens. That way Sony cameras can “handle” the lens information.

UPDATE: All I know from trusted sources is that indeed Sony’s plan is to launch a new 85mm lens. Don’t knwo if it’s A or E-mount yet.
