Sigma says they have no plan to make FE lenses yet (but it could change in future).

Plenty of A7 camera owners hope to see Sigma make a proper E-mount version of the superb 50mm A-mount lens you can preorder Amazon (Click here), BHphoto (Click here), Adorama (Click here), WexUK (Click here) and WexDe (Click here). But I have some bad news:

A SAR reader contacted Paul Pizzano (Manager from Sigma) and he told him that there is not plan to make Full Frame E-mount lenses yet:

“Maybe one day but it would take a much larger commitment on the part of Sony. A full Line of cameras and lenses with the FE mount, as well as the conversion of their NEX line to the FE mount. At the moment it is a very limited line and we are unable to invest in it when the parent company Sony seems reluctant to do so.”

IN short, Sigma will wait to see if the Full Frame E-mount will become popular or not…

(SR5) NEX-5T end of production confirmed.

Just a short update to inform that also other sources confirmed the NEX-5T will be discontinued this summer. Therefore the rumor ranking has been raised from SR4 to SR5. But It’s still not 100% clear if there will be a successor or not.

Sony A7s and RX100mIII European pricing to be unveiled the coming week.

The only region on earth that still has no clue about the possible A7s and RX100M3 pricing is..Europe! I actually mean the European Union state members using the Euro as currency. But one of our German readers just got that note from Sony Germany saying the price for both cameras is likely going to be announced the coming week:

Leider liegen uns noch keine genauren Informationen bezüglich der Verfügbarkeit der Kameras vor. Wir gehen allerdings davon aus, dass diese  voraussichtlich ab nächster Woche vorbestellbar sein sollten.
Bei weiteren Fragen stehen wir Ihnen gerne zur Verfügung.

Next competition rumor: Nikon D800 successor to come next month with same Sony 36MP sensor.

The Sony 36MP sensor was already powering the Nikon D800 (Image Source: Chipworks).

Sony is rumored to launch one (or maybe even two) new Full Frame A-mount cameras soon (likely this summer before Photokina). But before that Nikon will announce their new D800/E successor camera in June. According to Dr.Photorumor and Nikonrumors the camera will sue the same Sony A7r 36 MP sensor and overall the camera will feature a lot of small improvements and no real new big feature (like 4K or so).

There are a couple of interesting aspects of that rumor:
1) Nikon will not get a new Sony generation sensor (we were used before with Nikon FF cameras getting brand new Sony sensors 6 months ahead of Sony itself).
2) Nikon will not add 4K to their pro FF cameras. If Sony A99II will have 4K this will be one big unique selling point for Sony.

Can’t wait to hear more about the A99II. Some hints from my trusted sources maybe? :)
