Update on Sony EU sites. Working on new rumors…

Yesterday I reported how Sony EU sites like Sony Germany (Click here) and Sony UK (Click here), where claiming Sony E-mount cameras would have built-in on sensor stabilization. One trusted source confirmed that Sony EU sites are currently undergoing big changes on all levels (text, links and images). So the errors you see on the pages right now are being fixed (very slowly).

That said it’s still interesting to note that the on sensor stabilization image has been created from scratch. So something is going on, maybe this image is meant for a future new E-mount APS-C camera?

Note on the rumors I am working on. It’s harder to usual to grab reliable rumors. Sony is spreading conflicting information to hide the truth. That’s why I prefer to be careful and wait for final proves before to posts specs about the next High End NEX-7 and A77 successor cameras. But they are coming…don’t worry ;)

(SR3) Soon to be announced new E-mount cameras have on sensor stabilization?

Right before the CP+ show Sony will announce the new NEX-6/7 successor (price 800 Euro). And well, there is some hope the new E-Mount camera(s) will have on sensor stabilization! And actually it’s quite funny to notice that the info comes straight from Sony: Just see the update page on the APS-C non OSS lenses like the Zeiss 24mm at Sony Germany (Click here), Sony UK (Click here), Sony France (Click here), Sony Italy (Click here), Sony Holland (Click here). All non OSS E-mount lenses added the info that E-mount cameras now have on sensor stabilization!

UPDATE: You will notice that the Sony EU sites contain errors and this is likely because they are working on it in these days. Still, what doesn’t look like an error is that design of a E-mount camera with on sensor stabilization. So take everything with a grain of salt for now, but to me the image is pretty clear. They will likely change the text and specs. But the image? Hmmm…

A couple of months ago sources told me that Sony was working with Olympus to implement their world class leading(!) image stabilization. What I dont’ know yet is if the soon t be announced new generation of E-mount cameras will feature the three axis stabilization of the E-M10 (announced yesterday and specs here at Amazon) or the superb 5 axis stabilization of the E-M1 (specs here).

P.S.: I had a dream. 5axis stabilization the next generation of Full Frame E-mount cameras. That would make my day!

P.P.S.: It’s hard to rate a rumor based on Sony pages itself. That’s why it has the average SR3 ranking :)

New QX accessories for tablets and new QX cameras coming soon.

The QX series may have nothing to do with out Alpha Cameras but few of us would have bet on the future of the concept. Well, as reported here oN SAR the QX sales are very strong and Sony will keep developing the idea further. The image on top has been leaked at Xperia Blog and shows the new SPA-TA1 tablet attachment. And new QX cameras (and firmware update for current QX owners) should come too!

It may be that one day Sony will sell more of these kind of camera than our “old” DSLR/Mirrorless cameras ? We will see…

(SR4) A77 successor price set at 1.200 Euro.

Small update about the A77 successor. The camera will sell in JUne for 1.200 Euro body only. And as I told you before there will be no A65 successor. This is likely the only ASP-C A-mount camera coming in 2014.

Still no time table for the Full Frame A-mount. Althaugh Sony already said they will launch a 4K FF camera soon (likely at the NAB show in April).

(SR5) NEX-6/7 successor to cost 800 Euro. Shipping in April.

In early February Sony will announce the new High End APS-C E-mount camera. This one camera will replace both, the [shoplink 14167 ebay]NEX-6[/shoplink] and shoplink 8454 ebay]NEX-7[/shoplink] models. I have been told the camera body only costs around 800 Euro. The camera is said to have a much faster AF, faster imaging processor and improved Image Quality and EVF. It will be in Stock for April.

The cameras coming after it are the A-mount cameras (April?). What I am still not sure about are the releases of new RX FF and Full Frame E-mount cameras. I got info about these two cameras but I am trying to check when this stuff will be announced.

Hasselblad and Sony. The beginnning of a new medium format strategy. (Poll: Would you buy a low end medium format camera?).

So, the rumors we posted were right and Sony is indeed entering the medium format world by producing CMOS sensor for Hasselblad. Obviously, the soon to be announced H5D-50C is expected to cost $1000 per million pixel which means…about $50,000 just like the model it replaces, the H5D-50 model (here at BHphoto).

But as I have been told by my Hasselblad sources there are other very interesting aspects to know:

1) Hasselblad and Sony are working on quite revolutionary new sensor tech that will fit in future medium format sensors. And some of this tech will spread to the lower “Full Frame” sensor market. (This comes via one of my good sources).

2) It has been not decided yet but it’s a possibility: Hasselblad and Sony could also launch “cheap” medium format cameras to seriously compete in Nikon’s and Canon’s High End Full Frame market. Pentax already did this with the [shoplink 24095 ebay]Pentax 645D (around $6000 or 6000 Euro here one Bay)[/shoplink].

Point 1) is almost certain to happen while 2) is just speculation. But I am curious to see how many of you would be interested to get this:

Do you feel Sony has to make a sort of EOS-R5 8K camera too?

First picture of the Hasselblad Solar A-mount camera!

Well, it’s really a Hasselblad day today! What you see on the picture on top is the Hasselblad Solar. It’s a new A-mount camera based on the current Sony A99.  And I have to say the camera looks better than the previous released sketch (posted here on bottom).

There is no info about the price and release of the camera yet. But it doesn’t look as fancy or exaggerated luxurious as the [shoplink 22672 ebay]Hasselblad Lunar (Click here)[/shoplink] or [shoplink 22673 ebay]Hasselblad Stellar[/shoplink]. This may be the first time Hasselblad makes a really interesting variation of a Sony camera?
