RUMOR: Sony 50mm f/1.4 GM will be announced on February 21…and one more announcement coming in March ;)

Finally I got a date: Sony will have a new product announcement event on February 21. What to expect:

Now I hear your disappointment, but it’s my duty is to cheer you up now :) The same source also said a more “major” announcement will follow soon after in March! And this should be definitely something way more interesting for our readers. As soon as I “can” I will post exact info about the Marc event on SAR and on my Youtube channel!

LEAKED: Full size image of the new Sigma 50mm f/1.4 lens

This is the new Sigma 50mm f/1.4 E-mount lens. Specs have already been leaked weeks ago (summary in the video below). The lens will be announced on February 7.

Note: I recorded this video hours before the launch of the Sigma teaser. The Feb 7 date I “rumored” in this video has now been officially confirmed:

RUMOR: Sony A7CII coming in 2023

This will come as a uprise to nobody, but a trusted source said it’s highly likely the A7cII is going to be announced in 2023. A second new source (therefore unreliable for now!) added this info:

We can expect A7C II next year. Sony already reserved some components from A7IV for “another camera” including for example sensor and IBIS. Also they scheduled increased production ONLY for EVF from A7C mk1 for this year. So we are expecting A7C II same specs as A7IV, redesigned shell but same EVF like mk1.

It’s super safe to say the A7cII will have the same A7IV specs. but if the second source is right the EVF might be the one of the A7c only! I hope this new source is definitely WRONG on this part.

Reminder: Both the A9III and A7cIII are now solidly confirmed to be coming in 2023. But there is more to come don’t worry as you can hear me teasing in this video:

What’s next from Sony: New 50mm GM, new A1 firmware update, new A9III and more!

In exactly one month from now the Cp+ show will open their doors. Sony is known for avoiding using those events to announce new gear. They prefer to have all the buzz for themselves.But here is what’s coming next for us E-mount shooters:

  1. The Sony 50mm f/1.4 GM II is coming in February (I am 100% sure of that). Hope to get the exact announcement date soon
  2. The Sigma 50mm f/1.4 FE will also be announced in February (my leaked image and specs can be found here)
  3. New Sony A1 firmware adding A7rV video AF features might be announced in February too (but I hope it will add a ton of other new features too!)
  4. 16-35mm GMII is on the roadmap, announcement within the next few months
  5. Sony A9III is 100% confirmed to be coming the next months. Just don’t know yet when exactly.
  6. Overall I am 100% sure there will be many more E-mount cameras this year than we had in 2022. Will update you about this soon on my youtube channel!
