This is unexpected: Panasonic will also launch a new Full Frame mirrorless system camera on September 25

Rendering of a GH5 camera with Full Frame sensor and FF sensor (just a rendering and not the real camera!!!)

Well dear SAR readers, in one single month three manufacturers will launch a completely new Full Frame mirrorless system camera: After the Nikon Z and the Canon R we will also get a new Panasonic FF mirrorless on September 25!

There are no specs yet but for sure Panasonic is a very challenging competitor in the video arena. Maybe that’s why Sony is waiting to launch the new Sony A7sIII? They are probably going to watch what’s coming from Canon and Panasonic before to launch their next Full Frame camera. Makes sense from a strategic point of view.

I really wonder how Panasonic can survive the battle between the two giants (Canon-Nikon) and the runner-up (Sony). I wonder if Olympus and Ricoh will make some sort of FF camera too…

Competition news: Canon EOS-R FF mirrorless to be announced on September 5. Has 50mm f/1.2, 28-70mm f/2.0 lenses!

Mirrorlessrumors.com reports all details about the new Canon Full Frame mirrorless that will be announced on September 5. And from what you will read now it appears that Canon might be a step ahead of the Nikon Z lens lineup with fast zooms and prime lenses! Here is the gear list that Canon will announce on September 5 (via Nokishita):

EOS R body
EOS R 24105 kit
RF 35 mm F 1.8 M IS
RF 50 mm F 1.2 L USM
RF 28 – 70 mm F 2 L USM
RF 24 – 105 mm F4 L USM
M adapter R

Here are some possible specs of the entry-level FF mirrorless shared by Canonwatch:

  • 28MP full frame sensor
  • Dual Pixel Auto Focus
  • IBIS (In Body Image Stabilisation)
  • 10fps shooting
  • 4k@30fps
  • 1080p@60fps
  • Priced $1,900

I somehow feel like Canon could be an even more “dangerous” competitor than Nikon because of the “faster” lens lineup and the sheer brutal force of their brand name!

Private note: Now that I said this lens lineup from Canon is cool tell me once more I am a Sony fanboy you Nikon guys:)

Sony A7III is again outselling the new Nikon Z cameras according to Amazon US

Share

Note: The Amazon ranking gets updated hourly. Ranking may change after my post.

First of all Amazon US ranking (Click here) isn’t a scientific tool to measure a cameras success. But from experience I know that newly announced cameras that sell well are usually on top for weeks. So it’s interesting to see that four days after the announcement the Sony A7III is selling better than the Nikon Z7 and Nikon Z6 cameras.

Also Google trend seems to confirm that the A7III is more popular than the Z cameras:

I repeat, this is not a scientific analysis. But we can safely say the Nikon Z isn’t the big dealbreaker…yet. Let’s see if Canon will have a major impact with their FF mirrorless when they will announce it on September 5!

Updated info on the new Zeiss Camera

Share

As you know Zeiss removed the teasers for their camera launch. Some people were worried this means Zeiss will not announce this camera. But a reliable source told me this:

Some press in China have already received an official notification from Zeiss about the new product, so  I expect it to come very soon.
