As you know last week Sony registered a new camera with the code “WW158299” at the Chinese Miit agency. Sources made us clear that this code is for a new compact fixed lens camera and not for a new E or A-mount camera. The sources did not tell me what the camera might be. All we know is that usually once registered a camera gets announced within the next two months.
I am yet not sure if that new compact camera will be announced on November 9 (Japan time) along the new FS7II E-mount camcorder.
The new Sony A99II shoudl start to ship to early buyers next week according to Calumet Germany. Let’s hope this is a good sign for all of you who preordered the camera and want to get it long before Christmas.

During a short hands-on with a pre-production model at a shop in Hannover, Germany yesterday, someone tested the Minolta 2,8/200 APO HS G, Minolta 100-300 APO, Sigma 4,5/500 APO lenses and stated that with these lenses he could only use the dedicated PDAF-sensor.
