It’s now the third source within weeks that tells me this. Zeiss has a huge surprise for the FE system. They are going to launch a new autofocus lens line system for the FE mount! This is the latest message I got:

New Zeiss Batis lenses will be announced today. This is a new line for FF E-Mount. Like the Touits for APS-C.  2/25 and 1,8/85 will be available in summer 2015.

UPDATE: Zeiss is rumored to announce those lenses at 11.00 Berlin time. Stay tuned on SAR!!!!!

AND STAY tuned all day and remember that tomorrow (April12) at 12-13.00 London time there will be a BIG Sony announcement!

Zeiss teases a new lens for mirrorless system cameras!

Share

Zeiss posted a teaser of a new lens on their Facebook page. It’s a new “smooth” lens for mirrorless system cameras. UPDATE: Zeiss said they would launch a wide angle Loxia later this year. So I am not sure this is the wide angle lens he is holding. And I also don’t think it’s a Touit lens.
And the past weeks I already got a quite surprising rumor about a complete new line of lenses. Give me some time to check it out!

(SR4) Two new cameras to be shown on Thursday.

calendar

A trusted source got news from Sony saying that they will display two new cameras on Thursday April 23. No E-mount. And if the Sony roadmap is still valid also no A-mount cameras. So this has to be the new RX stuff. RX100m4 and/or RX1X or maybe something else not “rumored” yet? I certainly would love to get a medium format Sony camera and you? I know, my dreams sometimes go too far…

What we can “hope” to get on April 23 (RX1-X and RX100m4?)

Share

April23

Sony has a scheduled press briefing on Thursday April 23. And Wikileaks hinted that new RX and A7 and A6xxx cameras would be announced within April and June. So far this is what we can hope to get soon:

To be announced on April 23?
– RX1-X camera (specs unclear but likely a FF camera with 35mm f/1.8 Zeiss lens).
– RX100m4 (20MP Four Thirds sensor camera with 4K recording)

To be announced in May?
– A7rII (36Mp, 5 axis and same A7II body improvements)
– A6xxx (24MP APS-C sensor and 3 or 5 axis stabilization).

P.S.: A-mount news (camera and lenses) will follow in August/September?

By the way. Also the Sony Canada marketing roadmap seems to confirm there will be new cameras. Their RX (late April) and Alpha (mid May) campaign would match those announcements.

The Reasons Why Gary Fong Switched From Canon and Nikon To Sony

Jerry:I have now owned both a Sony a7 and an a7II.
One of the very few shortcomings, as noted in practically all reviews on these cameras though, is the fact that if you want to use its LCD finder on the back, and hold the camera down at waist level, which in many cases shades the camera’s eyepiece sensor heavily, the sensor within the EVF’s rubber hood thinks the camera is being held to your eye and turns the LCD completely off in favor of the EVF only. Of course, there’s the menu setting on the camera to set one or the other SOLELY, but this is a hassle when you need to switch back and forth frequently .
I finally discovered a simple fix to remedy this very aggravating situation using a product called Light Dims, which are little  inexpensive, stick-on pre-cot pieces of a neutral gray shading material actually made for putting over glaring, bright LED’s that are overly bright and irritate you at night or in dark places.
By simply cutting a 3mm X 5mm piece of this material and applying it over the left half of the EVF sensor window, the sensor functions perfectly and the LCD remains on even in very low light, plus the EVF still switches on again automatically when the camera is held up to your eye! This is an incredibly simple fix that many Sony a7 users have wrestled with for months and have hoped and hoped that Sony would correct via a firmware update! It seems to work for all the Sony a7 models including the a7, a7R, a7II and a7S. These little gadgets are available on Amazon (http://www.amazon.com/LightDims-Original-Strength%C2%AE-Minimal-Packaging/dp/B00CLVEQCO/ref=sr_1_1?ie=UTF8&qid=1428490110&sr=8-1&keywords=lightdims) or directly from the company at: www.lightdims.com
I am in no way affiliated with the company and have no vested interest. I just discovered this from another post on a Sony a7 forum, tried it and was super impressed.

Peter:i Tried SONY a6000 + HOYA 28mm F2.8 reverse for macro shooting. This is probably cheapest alternative for macro lens. Work perfectly on Full Frame A7R as well.
