Another rendring of a high end A9 DSLR alike camera (SonyAlphaForum).
A few days ago I told that trusted sources told me that Sony is about to announce a new High End camera. But other than that I have no reliable info about the possible specs of it. In those last couple of days I got some info from anonymous sources which I think are at 99% wrong. But I figured that you might want to read what I got in my mail box. Maybe a miracle will happen and one of those will get true one day :)
Anonymous Source 1:
I wanted to tell you that I saw a new mounting system on a lens. It was not A or E mount nor Nikon or Canon but advertised as for Sony. Judging from the specs of the lens it is for Full Frame 35mm, but a pinch smaller. The engineers told me they can not disclose what for it is…
Anonymous Source 2:
8k video recording with 32 mega pixel still shot from each frame. Native iso below 50. Instant connectivity via wifi & Bluetooth to most popular phone apps, Apple and Android. Flexible touch screen. Super hi Rez EVF, higher beyond A7ri Minimum 100 mega pixel. Built in 1trb flash storage with usb3 & C output More to follow.
Anonymous Source 3:
You are close … Just Not A mount , E mount And the Key is true 16 bit ? Massive Picture quality increase. N+C don’t expect it…
Anonymous Source 4:
I believe there will be a CML (compact mirror less) “A9” or “A7-Pro” with BSI 56-58 Mp (effective) in appr.late November. Also a mirror less A 99 II with same BSI sensor 56-58 Mp. OLED-EVF! In spring 2016 an A 88 II, equiv to Pentax K 1 FF, will appear. Same BSI sensor but scaled down to 42 or 36 Mp. Sony now uses only two FF sensors – one BSI appr 60 Mp, one FSI appr 50 Mp. All FF cameras are scaled from those.
Anonymous Source 5:
The new secret weapon camera to be unleashed is a medium format Rx style camera with changeable lenses and evf. It comes with the Sony 50 Mp backlit sensor and instead of zooms it will have a 50mm, 80mm and 150mm primes. It is aimed at landscape artists. A new 55mm lens is also being made which will have tilt/shift to facilitate architectural photography which requires a high format and tabletop photos for ads.

It only rarely happens that anonymous sources are spot on with rumors. Last time this happened was in January when a source shared the Zeiss Batis lens specs. id dint’ belive him…but at the end he was 100% spot on!

Robbert: “This may be interesting to some of the readers of sonyalpharumors. Yesterday I did my first production combining footage from the A7RII and the DJI Inspire 1 Pro (X5). I recorded with the sony in Super 35mm mode with a 24mm E-mount lens in AF mode on a DJI Ronin M. Shot in the Cine2 profile and it worked beautifully together with the footage from the drone. All worked great and we had a blast making my first video using aerial footage. Here is the link to the video: https://vimeo.com/143479222”
Jonathan: “My visit to Turkey was just a day long, walking the streets in a caffeine-fuelled haze. But I’m glad I visited, just barely scratching the surface of the thankfully peaceful side of a troubled country. Turkey Album. Russia is also troubled, of course, but there were no indications in St. Petersburg, where I spent a week with my friend Vladimir, who flew up from the Siberian city Ekaterinburg, Russia’s third-largest. The architecture and history of St. Petersburg were fascinating. North America has nothing comparable. The subway systems in St. Petersburg and Moscow are also impressive. People move in a smooth, uninterrupted laminar flow. I wish we had such an efficient and highly-used system in Los Angeles. But what really left an impression on me was Russia’s character. Once you get past the requisite public frowns, people are truly warm and the culture is welcoming. I even began to enjoy salted frozen pig’s fat accompanied by vodka and sometimes dried horse meat. On my way to Mongolia, I made the most of my 9-hour Moscow layover by visiting Red Square and the Kremlin. Russia Album.
Mongolia represented Matt’s and my third trip together, bringing travelers from around the world. We had a full tour with 12 people from 5 continents, and in spite of some weather woes (an early snow in the Gobi, brutally windy and dusty conditions at the Eagle Festival in the far west, a cancelled return flight to Ulaanbaatar), everybody held up remarkably well. Unfortunately, my brand new camera did not, and I just sent it in for repair. I hope to get it back before I head to the Amazon in two weeks to Valle de Candamo, known as the “Last Jungle without People.” Mongolia Album“
Dpreview established the Sony A6000 as the best system camera within the $500-$800 price range:
“We really cannot say enough good things about the Sony a6000. Though we have it in the $500-800 category, due to its MRSP, it can often be acquired, body only, for closer to $500. And what does that get you? AF performance in line with the best in its class, great image quality, solid video quality/features with AF and no hunting, and a nice EVF, packed into a compact, enthusiast-friendly body.”
Probably that’s the reason why Sony didn’t hurry with the A6000 successor release. There is yet no real competition…

What is on your bag guys? Can you come even close to Greg’s weaponery?
Planet5D posted that video interview with Conversation with Michael Schielhlen, Senior Director from Zeiss. There are a couple of info to share:
1) Michael said that Sony is very popular in Germany. In August for the very first time Sony sold more interchangeable cameras than Nikon and Canon! 2) Zeiss is already working on the third Batis lens development 3) For both Batis and Loxia lenses the next interesting focal lengths are super wide and 135 and 200mm focal lengths 4) Zeiss is surprised by the huge demand of Batis lenses
There is no official way to know how popular the Sony E-mount system is in all countries. It would certainly be interesting to know how sales are in Europe, Asia and US. All I do to check the current “popularity” of cameras is to visit the Amazon sales rankings. And you can notice some differences between countries: Amazon USA (Click here) shows that DSLR cameras are still the big sellers although Sony is doing quite fine with their A6000 and A7sII cameras. Amazon Germany (Click here) shows a more homogeneous ranking were both Sony mirrrorless and Nikon/Canon DSLR seem to sell equally fine.
But really that’s not e scientific metric to measure success. Maybe the next Sony financial report will give us some more detailed clue about the recent A7rII and A7sII sales.
