(SR0) Real world peace will come before you see this: Fake 12mm T/1.0 OSS FE lens :)

Share

Bildschirmfoto 2014-12-06 um 08.03.30

Latter 21 shared that pictures and specs of a 12mm T/1.0 FE lens (Source: Cnbeta). This is 99,99999% likely to be fake :)  If for some very unlikely reason Sony would  really release such a lens it owuld certainly be amazing. But having a T/1.0 aperture a 12mm (for FF) is something never seen before on this world. And with OSS?  Sorry guys, but this is as fake as it gets :)

Anyway, just for fun…here are the full fake specs:
Lens Mount Type : Sony E-mount (35mm full frame)
Lens Stabilization : Optical SteadyShot
Aperture (Max.) : T/1
Aperture (Min.) : T/22
Focal Length (35mm equivalent) : 12mm (35mm)
Aperture Blade : 15 blades (Circular aperture)(Stepless aperture)
Angle of View :122°(35mm)
Minimum Focus Distance : 7.88″ (AF/MF) 0.2m
Lens compensation : Equivalent to 3 steps
Filter Diameter : 125mm
Dimensions (Approx.) : 6-2/5″ × 7+1/10″ (142 x 180mm)
Lens Weight : 49.6 oz. (1405 g)

As you SR0 is not even in our rumor ranking :)

Reminder (SR = Sonyrumor):
SR1=probably fake rumor
SR2=rumor from unknown sources
SR3=50% chance it is correct
SR4=rumor from known sources
SR5=almost certainly correct!

New A7II hands-on reports. And win the camera a Sony Electronics’ Alpha Tweet Sweepstakes.

Share

The Sony A7II will ship soon in US/EU and as a consequence more and more reviewers are getting their hands on the camera. Here are two more preview reports:

Steve Huff writes:

Sony is kicking ass and I have yet to use a camera this year that feels as good, looks as nice and performs like this one. No Fuji, no Olympus, No Leica, No Nikon has done it. The A7II makes the Nikon Df feel like a toy in the hand, that is how much better it feels over the A7 Mark I. I love the Nikon Df, it is the only DSLR I would own (and did for a while) but the A7II has shown that Sony still means business and they are not backing down.

Colby Brown writes:

While I am used to the shutter button on my a7r and a7s, the new shutter release button not only feels more natural in its new position, the button itself feels more responsive. It is larger and better built as well, making it easier to press down. While the camera is certainly faster to turn on, I wouldn’t exactly say it has an “instant on” feature. It still has to wait half a second from when I flip the on switch. Either way, there is an improvement.

Sony take a look: Olympus will use the 5 axis stabilization to create high resolution images on the fly.

Share

Now that we now Sony will use the 5 axis system on future E-Mount camera it’s interesting to read what has been reported on MirrorlessRumors. Olympus will launch a new E-M5II camera in February. And by shifting the sensor with the stabilization system it “can shoot up to 40 Megapixel by shifting the sensor (in up to 8 frames of single shots)”.

What you usually do when shooting HDR (combine multiple images at different exposures) you do with the Resolution (combine multiple images at different shifted sensor locations).

Of course this works fine when shooting still objects. Must be a bit of a mess on fast-moving stuff. But it’s interesting that the on sensor stabilization could also bring us that kind of “unexpected” benefit!
