The friends of Alphaniacs posted that nice picture of the Zeiss 50mm f/1.4 SSM prototype lens attached on the new Sony A99. You notice that nice “00000000” mark on the lens! That would sell for a hell of a price on eBay :)
We don’t knwo the price of the lens but we have many Zeiss 50mm lenses for different mounts and I thought it would be nice to give you an overview:
[shoplink 14186 ebay]Zeiss Normal 50mm f/1.4 ZE Planar T* for Canon (see auctions on eBay)[/shoplink]
[shoplink 14187 ebay]Zeiss Normal 50mm f/1.4 ZE Planar T* for Nikon (see auctions on eBay)[/shoplink]
[shoplink 14188 ebay]Carl Zeiss Jena Biotar 50mm f/1.4 50/1.4 LTM (see auctions on eBay)[/shoplink]
[shoplink 14190 ebay]Zeiss Normal 50mm f/1.4 for Contax (see auctions on eBay)[/shoplink]
[shoplink 14189 ebay]Carl Zeiss Planar T* 1.4/50 ZF 50mm F1.4 Nikon Ai-S (see auctions on eBay)[/shoplink]
As you see the price range is soemwhere between $500 and $800. Of course these are all manual focusing lenses and do have a different design. But I hope the price will be a bit below the $1.000 mark.
Dpreview published the full Sony A57 review. Just in time enough to push the Nikon D600 news down from the top… :) DP writes: “The A57 combines a high quality 16MP sensor, easy access to shooting parameters and class-leading video performance. And does this while providing an equivalent shooting experience whether composing images via the EVF or rear LCD“. The Sony A57 is one of the very few cameras earning the Gold Award!
Blogosphere Loves Sony :)
Yesterday we had a busy day watching all previews and image samples. Today let’s give some space to a positive and romantic energy: Luca Rossini wrote a nice blog entry (Click here) about how Sony discovered his work and proposed him to go to Alaska to test the NEX-6. It’s a nice story that may inspire some of our readers! Thanks to Luca and to Sony for proving that there is still some romanticism on the web :)
And…sometimes it is really better to learn about a camera in that way instead of reading reviews and high ISO comparisons!
Also Carl Garrard (Click here) is finally back in love with Sony: “Hell I even ordered the NEX6 because it answered ALL of my criticisms of the NEX mount (that camera nd the new lenses). I’d be a hypocrite had I made the criticisms I’ve been making then, after Sony addressed them not give them a chance by trying the bodies out at least.”
Now some of you are going to hate me because I am linking to…”his majesty” Ken Rockwell wrote something positive about Sony: “This is a camera worth watching. I don’t know if Sony has finally pulled it off, or if it has enough little glitches as in the A55 to make it still second-fiddle to Nikon and Canon’s true DSLRs. I really love electronic finders if they’re done right; they let me see playback and menus without having to take the camera away from my eye.”
And so the well known photographer Matthew Jordan Smith will do his first fahsion shooting with the A99.
NEX-6:
Talking about the NEX-6…it likely the best camera in terms of price-features balance. Many found the price of the RX1 too high considering that it is a fixed lens camera (price check at Amazon, Adorama, BHphoto, Wex UK ,Wex Germany). And some people here would have loved it to see a lower price for the A99 after seeing the price of the new D600 (Click here). But I haven’t heard any single complaint about the NEX-6 price! The general perception is that $999 for a camera like that with superb electronic viewfinder and nice compact 16-50mm pancake zoom is absolutely fair…I go even further and say it’s a bargain :) Even the $120 discounted ([shoplink 14142 ebay]here on eBay[/shoplink]) “older” NEX-7 looks too expensive now! Fact is, the NEX-6 is the the most popular new Sony camera according toAmazon ranking (Click here). So check out the preorder NEX-6 links at Amazon, Adorama, BHphoto, Wex UK, Wex Germany Sonystore DE–UK–FR–IT–ES–NL–SE–FI–CH and more links at Alphacameradeals if you are considering to grab the new NEX!
VG900:
Camera is listed at BHphoto and Amazon but still no preorder option.
The spanish friends over at Quesabesde (Translation here) just published the very first RAW(!) full size samples taken with the A99. You are free to doanload them and post your comments on SAR. And…what is your pixel peeping eye saying?
And below as usual you can find the preorder list to the A99 and the other camera and lenses. If you have time let me know if you can find more preorder links and I will add them on Alphacameradeals. Thanks a lot guys!
Finally I had the chance to sleep without having to work on leaks and rumors and whatever. Feeling like a young boy again! Now it’s time to catch up with some news about the Sony stuff announced yesterday. On top you see a hands-on video from videoacademy. Veyr inetretsing is the work done by ePhotozine. They are the first to post image samples of the NEX-6 and NEX lenses (not even dpreview managed to post any smaple…LOL). Here are the links you have to check out: A99 ISO test NEX-6 ISO test Sony 35mm 1.8 lens samples Sony 10-18mm samples Sony 300mm lens preview
Feel free to send me links to new reviews to add on SAR and preorder options to add on AlphaCameraDeals (Click here). Thanks!!!
I don’t often talk about the competition but the Nikon D600 was one of this rumors that created a lot of buzz because it was said that the FF camera would cost 1500 Euro&Dollars only. Now that the camera has been announced we know that the rumor was wrong and the camera sells for $2100 right now at Amazon (Click here to see). So not really a deal-breaker. The Sony A99 specs are much higher and in terms of price the RX1 (Click here) might be to consider to be even cheaper if you would take away the price of the superb Zeiss 35mm f/2.0 lens -> of course we can only guess the price of such a lens if it would be sold separately.
